Computer issue.

Post by Phoenix » Mon Feb 28, 2011 5:09 pm

If anyone knows something about computers, then please help.

I have a problem that prevents me from taking part on server based events.

My computer has two operating systems:
Linux has internet.
Windows does not.
YSF is on windows.

Anyone got any suggestions for help?

Ok, first of all;

1. Are you connected directly to your modem (cable)
2. Or do you have WiFi set up?

In either case, it's probably a driver issue with Windows, so it can't use your network card. Linux has the driver for it. I can point you in the right direction if you can answer those questions.

Once you do go to Control Panel (assuming your in 7 or vista)> Hardware and Sound>Device Manager (shield symbol next to it)>look down the list until you see Network adapters> click it and then tell me what the name of it is.

Oh btw, although I'm happy to help, this isn't a tech support site, so try to keep posts like these to a minimum.

Thanks, I'll be able to tell you soon (when my dad gets home, he knows something about this). Bad news, Windows 2000.

Thank you.

If I have any trouble shall I pm you? (rather than post a topic)

Thanks again.

Sorry for revive. Just wanted to add that this problem is familiar to me. (installed lot of dualboot systems) It's a driver problem. Linux detects your network card and windows doesn't. Simply download the drivers in Linux (from manifacturers website) to a portable device and run it in windows.
