A lot of people here enjoy motor sport. Back on the other place we had and it was quite popular. So her we go with the start of 2012 and the motor sport season coming up here we go. Share your motor sport news here.

So Formula One the top of motor sport is what I'll start off with. I'll leave the American motor sport to one of the yanks on here (animal lol)
2012 seems to be the year of the ugly duck nose, those who follow the regulations of the FIA and the Engineering side of Formula one you will know that the FIA change the regulations every year sometimes a little sometimes alot. This year a few changes have been, the main regulation change has been the position of the exhausts and engine mapping to do away with the exhaust blown diffusers.
Last year most teams had the exhaust positioned on the floor of the car blowing over the read diffuser, this tied in with engine mapping that where designed to keep the engine producing exhaust gasses while the drivers foot was off the throttle to cream more down force at the rear while in slow corners. BUT, this year the repositioning of the exhaust and the banning of off throttle engine mapping means they have lost the 'free' down force. It's is suggested that this will hard Red Bull the most.

Moving to the front of the car the change is of making the nose lower, this is to stop cars flying over another cars wheels, like Mark Webber and Mr Shumey did in 2010. This has given the cars a 'duck' shaped nose, that has this ugly step just before the wheels (apart for the McLaren). No body work is allowed in the yellow areas (image below) causing this duck style nose.

I just read about 2012 changes yesterday. The new duck nose makes me rage, except for McLaren (they lowered the whole front body instead). They'll be getting my 100% support this coming season.

I've always been a fan of Ferrari F1 racing throughout 2009-2011 but now I like Mclaren.

Even if McLaren had the duck nose I'd support them. I've been a McLaren fan since, and this makes me feel old saying this, before CrazyPilot was born... I remember watching Senna's crash in 1994 I was 5 wow feeling old, how about you TF58? lol.

McLaren have always had the lowest cars, and this one looks fast, Button said at the launch "If it looks fast then it generally is fast" Then Hamilton said "You can see we've changed the mirrors, they're bigger so that should make Massa happy".

CrazyPilot, you can't support a team on the looks of their car. You need to stick with your team through the good and bad. I hated being McLaren fan in 2009 and 2006 both bad years for us.

Still waiting for Animal to give us the US racing series preview.

Apart from the Foce india and McLaren, the nose is very similar.
Wonder if Force india will get away with the mini wing, on the front of the nose.
If they do and perform well, expect the other teams to come up with similar ideas.
Fliped out of the arena, again! :(

Well, I like Ferrari because they have Fernando and they are a great team. And I do agree on that front end. It's awful.

that 'wing' is a camera, all teams are required to have them on the front, Force India just decided to have it on the very tippy front.

I am a late F1 fan. I didn't start following the races until late 1997, when Villeneuve became big news here in Canada. However I have always been aware of F1 peripherally. Dad was a F1 fan in the late 60s and 70s (he hates Jackie Stewart, thinks he's a gutless coward, and I always get a chuckle hearing him say that), and I remember as a kid growing up watching him build various F1 car model kits (I remember the blue Tyrrell 003, the 6-wheeler, and the black with gold trim JPS Lotus), so I've always been aware of them. I heard about the news of Senna's crash, though didn't pay much attention to it.
