USA: The Administration does not support blowing up planets.

US shoots down Death Star superlaser petition

The White House has rejected a petition to build a Death Star

This Isn't the Petition Response You're Looking For

he Administration shares your desire for job creation and a strong national defense, but a Death Star isn't on the horizon. Here are a few reasons:

The construction of the Death Star has been estimated to cost more than $850,000,000,000,000,000. We're working hard to reduce the deficit, not expand it.
The Administration does not support blowing up planets.
Why would we spend countless taxpayer dollars on a Death Star with a fundamental flaw that can be exploited by a one-man starship?

Even though the United States doesn't have anything that can do the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs, we've got two spacecraft leaving the Solar System and we're building a probe that will fly to the exterior layers of the Sun.

If you do pursue a career in a science, technology, engineering or math-related field, the Force will be with us! Remember, the Death Star's power to destroy a planet, or even a whole star system, is insignificant next to the power of the Force.

They're lying, they're just building it behind the moon.

That, or they are hollowing out the moon and making IT a death star.
I am an accountant working full-time (and some). I'm not here as often as I would like to be. Send a message if you need me. There are a few people in the community who can get in contact with me urgently if you need - don't be afraid to ask. I just don't check here as frequently as I used to. Sorry!

cooooooool, thing is, that's an awful lot of space-rock to hide. We'd probably have permanent meteor showers or some shit.

Solution:

1. Print $850,000,000,000,000,000.
2. Build Death Star
3. Blow up Mars
4. Get Shutter to take over the Death Star, and threaten to blow up the sun if YSFHQ doesn't get 1 million members by te end of the week.

They're compressing the moon rock into diamonds to make super strong armour for the station, and to create the internal space :o

^^^

Despite the massive energy needed to do that, still feasible and would actually be very useful for radiation and heat shielding. (Doing massive year long school project manned asteroids traveling between Earth and Mars. Radiation is a BIG HUGE SUPER-IMPORTANT thing)

It would also allow for Nazi's to build their moon base.

Americans are building plans about Death Star.

Meanwhile I sit here in the dark with regular power outages.

I DECLARE SPECULATION FREIGHT TRAIN TIME

Diamonds almost certainly won't melt, but if you get any air around them (and for a deathstar, you very well might) they burn really easily. On top of that, I remember spotting somewhere that a diamond crystal is actually a pretty good thermal conductor, so that won't do much for you. Won't even go into radiation shielding because that's probably not something you can do effectively if we bring our battlestation outside the heliosphere.

buuuut that doesn't matter cause the moon has an iron core like earth, not carbon lmfao. (crust is thicker and is largely silica)

I think our best plan for a death-moon would be to just cover the bright side with solar panels, add a capacitor bank embedded in the crust, and a pitch-able railgun able to propel something at near relativistic speeds. Might help if the projectile is also self propelled. Probably still wouldn't go anywhere near those speeds anyways but... Nuke rocket railgun anyone? That would be cool. It'd probably still only be good for blowing up earth though.

The bright side changes, so you'd have to cover the whole moon with solar panels.

But then, rather than shooting stuff at the earth, put a large particle accelerator on the east side, as looking from earth, and feed it moon dust for several decades. The moon would then deorbit itself as tidal forces on Earth grew until doomsday.
