Weather In Your Area 2018

Post by Turbofan » Mon Jan 01, 2018 5:55 pm

This meteorologist can't wait lol.

Anyway, after a lovely 5F for the low the temp has skyrocketed to 14F, should be topping out at around 18F or so for the high today. :P

My general rant: I will call them blended winglets, not Sharklets; There is no CEO, it's just simply put, an Airbus 319/320/321, or the 320NEO, 321NEO etc. I didn't land IN OKC, I landed AT OKC. On the other hand, I did land in Oklahoma City.

Not any warmer here in the East. Looks like we might see a scorching 41F by next Monday.

Just look at the Forecast Fox bar at the top of the screen. It might get above freezing for a few minutes on Wednesday.

Ahh yes, you guys got a Nor'easter right?

We're thawing out now, but have to admit I'll take 5F without blizzard conditions anyday.

^Yeah, if you haven't run yours for some time it's likely the Phoenix NWS office, it has a different code - 543. Other than that, I don't know of any NWS zone forecast changes. You might want to check the WS 4000 forums, there might be some more information on this over there.

I have edited my travel cities list though since some of the original cities didn't make any sense. I never understood why Syracuse was a travel city for example. :P

It was over 60° and raining on Thursday. The school system called off school for the next day that evening, so I knew I wouldn't have to work. On Friday morning at around 4 AM local time, the rain turned to frozen precipitation, ice pellets were hitting my bedroom window hard enough to wake me up. When I woke up again the ice had turned to snow. It snowed constantly most of the day, finally stopping in the late afternoon. The temperature has been in the 20s today, possibly reaching 32° for a few minutes this afternoon, but currently 19° and dropping. The forecast shows that it will be in the mid 30s on Monday, then now late Monday night and Tuesday morning and stay below freezing until Friday, and it should all be melted by Sunday. I predicted Thursday that we would be getting next week off, and it looks likely to come true.

The downside is that my time sheet is in my desk drawer and it's due in this week. I hope I get paid on the 30th!

The high for today will be a staggering 34F. Woot! Shooting all the way up to 68F on Saturday, when some people will wear shorts no doubt.

It was 3° when I went to bed, but it's up to 9° right now. It's still looking like it will get above freezing on Friday, then rain on Sunday, so hopefully the back roads will be cleared by Monday.

Driving on ice is not dangerous as long as everybody goes slow.

I remember I recorded a segment of the Weather Channel where the song they used was Norman Conners "Kellie's Theme" and fell in love with the song and watching the WeatherStar. And Dan Chandler for voicing the segments and making it more memorable.

At least the road icing and sleet is over but looks like more rain on the way this weekend.

A side note TF, what flavor do you use? I use J[92-95] since that was the one I got used to and heavily watched during that time before WeatherStar was replaced altogether.

I've been trying to figure out how to configure the program for over an hour. AN HOUR WASTED! It's in the recycle bin and I WANT MY HOUR BACK!

Yeah, you got the narration part right. For some reason I fast-forwarded to the IntelliSTAR narration. Have I mentioned something about posting early in the morning?

As far as what flavor I use, it depends on the song segment length, since the segments I am using are all the free ones available for download from TWC Classics. Depending on the song length, I am using either flavor M or L (1995 onwards) for 2:00 minute segments, K (1993-1995) for 1:30 min, J (1992) for 3:00 min and flavor U, which I modified a bit for song segments that are 1:00 min.

It is a bit tricky to figure it out at first, especially if you don't come from a meteorological perspective. If you follow the steps here though, it should work fine. As stated above, the Travel Cities might not work because of NWS office code changes (Phoenix as an example) but the rest of it should work ok. The biggest thing I ran into was figuring out all of the codes, configurign the radar and everything else was pretty easy.
