Which engine, Garrett or PT6A?

I'm confused. Which engine is better, the PT6A or the TPE-331? Noise aside (the Garrett's made me a little bit deaf).

I already know the technical aspects, I just want to know which is better overall?

Considering the sales I think you have an answer.

I have first hand experience with the highs and lows of the PT6C and I can confirm in a medium helo it's the best option of its era. The newest stuff coming online like the new Safran engines may change this

I see that you have experience with the PT6C, a turboshaft variant. It's mostly identical to the PT6A, except that the PT6C obviously drives a helo rotor.

The TPE-331 doesn't have a turboshaft variant, which is strange, given that most turboprop engines also have a turboshaft variant, or vice versa. The Astazou, the Allison 250, the CT7, etc. Garrett did plan a turboshaft TPE-331 but just cancelled it.

Imagine the noise that thing would make stuck into a helicopter.
