Blender help and addon modification permission

Post by ToxicSkylinesMH10 » Thu Jun 30, 2011 8:22 am

hey guys :)

I need help with Blender. when I import planes, sometimes I will have a face that is apparently non existent, but its there. I cant paint it :( Ive had some fixes by deleting it and making a new face, but it doesnt work all the time.
Is there a general fix?

also, I would like to use an F-22 by XLP for a squad pack, but I need help getting to him. If someone could either get me connected to him or can grant me permission, I would appreciate it

Thank you for your time :)

Only thing I can say about the painting thing is, make sure you have it selected in object mode and vertex paint mode, I hope that's what you were asking, if it was there, but you can't touch it, so it's "non-existent"

No no, because I am a painter, I know that ^ but what I mean is that with some planes, the rest of the body will import just fine, except for only 1 or 2 vertexes. Those 1 or 2 vertexes will exist as faces (because Blender says they DO, they "exist")

BUT those same faces, cant be painted or modified. (so in reality they DON'T "exist" )
Ive gotten away only once by deleting that face in edit mode, and then making a completely new one to replace it.
However, I did it by luck because I pressed some buttons and wallahh!!!! it worked.

I don't not know what I pressed to fix that, but what I'm asking for is a known solution that I can use every single time without guessing.

Sorry if I didn't explain well enough

Try flipping the normals of those faces. Select the face, press W, then 0 (keyboard)

I would need the following information to help you :
- the model you imported
- a screenshot showing the face you cannot repaint.

Alright, the plane is the stock Hurricane, this is it after I painted it, and you can clearly see in the two screenshots that there are two vertexes that simply wont accept paint. Ive tried the ^ above ^ suggestion but it didnt really do anything.

I sometimes have this problem where some parts of the plane wont accept any color changes (note: I do pick the different objects)

That looks like a flipped normal to me. It wouldn't tell you there is a face if there isn't. You gotta flip it, select the flipped face, then W and flip faces.

Ive tried that and to no avail :(

Ive recently come up with a small method that only works sometimes (not on any cockpits)

But say you have this "invisible" face, you cant paint it, you can barely mod it,
just use the option in EDIT mode to select only edges
Select the edges of that square or triangle face, then you have to delete it.

Then you need to reselect the edges,

Create Face

Then you need to select segment

and wallah! something that only works sometimes :(
