Making something.

It's like building a house this gepolyx. Scaffolding and cutting planes everywhere.

Image

NEK MINNIT.

Image

Lifted the polygons into 30cm thick segments.

After much cut by plane...

Bueno. Time to do the hull.

Definitely the best gepolyx model i've ever made. more to come.

Trying to make a fictional map with three airports, but I don't know where to go after this.

Image

I've got two airports right now and this is what they look like:

And of course what is left is just a huge river line. I should add fields around the two-runway airport and maybe put some medium-sized mountains nearby. The single-runway airport might have a town near it and lots of trees around just for scenic looks. I'm not sure if I'll add a third airport in the map.

My two cents:
Most over-used phrase of 2020: "New normal". Can we stop with that already? Pandemics do not last forever, and things will eventually go back to normal.

I've found that adding different types of natural features can go a long way and take up space or make more when you want it. Think of things like lakes, bays, reservoirs, etc in terms of fresh water features. When I'm near a coast, I like to include of course the coast itself, and sometimes extending it a long way and adding in inter-coastal waterways and things like that. Mountains, hills, forests, and things like that can also come to mind. That's why I like doing island maps though, because there's so many more options and expansion is easier than inland.

If you run out of ideas, try messing around Google Earth and find a similar area to what you're working on, I'm sure you'll find something useful!

I was about to post what VNAF said in his last sentence. Grab a reference map of a real-world area and use that for your setting.

Try adding a few elevation grid mountains along the river banks or sprinkle a few towns outside of the airports or even a few large lakes for amphibious planes to land on.

Yeah I'll be playing around with the coloring on the flags a bit.

Here is a cluster (which reduces lag and makes things look nicer = win/win) :P

Great stuff there Airbourne. Speaking of great stuff, what happened to your fabulous trains? Would love to add them to a future map. Just curious ;).
