Finally decided to start learning the use of scenery editor, and since it now supports textures on rectangles I was thinking on playing a little with those while learning. So I have 2 current projects on the works, they are really, really very simple airports, well... I don't want to complicate things for now, at least until I get more experience and skill.

Ok so here are the screenies for both a desert map and a snow dune island, the first is composed of overlapping textured rectangles (they use the same texture but are not sized the same), the trick was to make the texture with a transparent background, erasing the borders at a random contour and softening them a bit so they could overlap properly thus killing that ugly tile effect I got at first, the second one is just a transparent png with an island on top of a scenery editor rectangle so that the island overlays on the default water area then just had to make the island a ground area. ;)

Surprisingly the frame rate wasn't affected much by this, if I load a default stock ys map i get 64fps on average on my system which is running on crappy integrated graphics. :? Ok... Then when I load these maps I made the result is 58 to 64fps depending on where I fly over. On the screenshots you'll see a 40something fps but that's just because of the software used (FXAA tools, no effects were applied whatsoever) to take the shots.

Working on a python tool that will take a replay file and for certain pre-setup maps generate a flight path image like below (Actual flight path flown by me on YSCAS this weekend). Currently exploring how handle everything and output data for different flights, but I think this has potential to be a fun way to recap flights.
