I think for organization's sake, one pack would be best, but maybe include a ReadMe or pictures of each different engine so that people know what they look like or whatever. It would also be a hell of a lot easier to download one pack than 10 or however many you have.

Do you guys want me to release each set of trains separately? (Meaning SD40-2's are one pack, Spine cars are one pack,.................)
I would think to have all of them in one pack, and then all of the SD40-2's in one folder, SD60's in another, boxcars in another, etc. etc. But I think it would be nice to possibly have a document in the pack saying what railroads are for certain regions. Being a railfan, I'l be a tad annoyed looking at CSX trains while flying in California, and UP trains in Florida. My two cents.
Am I back? Probably not.

Good point. Maybe a map, or a series of them, depicting where each would be reigning over their piece of the landscape, and/or sharing it. Not to forget about Amtrack. Sounds like something I'll want to DL.

I made a second variation of the Dreamliner colours on the Super Kingair (my previous one is still kept). Darkened the fuselage blue, added the turquiose blue to the prop spinners, added one of the greyish whites to the wings and one of the shades of blue to the horizontal stabilisers. There are a total of six different shades of blue and white in the actual BCA house colours.

I know, this is not the exact rendition of the Dreamliner colourscheme, I just did the best I could with the default coloringbase.dnm file (which btw, is awesome). I'll try Blender at some point, right now, I just don't have the time or the patience haha.

My general rant: I will call them blended winglets, not Sharklets; There is no CEO, it's just simply put, an Airbus 319/320/321, or the 320NEO, 321NEO etc. I didn't land IN DAL, I landed AT DAL. On the other hand, I did land in Dallas.

That is exactly what I am doing. I will put everything in the .lst and make separate folders for each train (like you said SD40-2s in one, Boxcars in one, etc.... The second part can happen possibly.

If possible I would also suggest that you include some identifier for the engines and cars in the .dat file, like [train] or [engine] as the case maybe, it would make it easier to pick out in the ground object list in the Scenery Editor for sure.

That is what I did. Here are some examples:

Code: Select all

[Train]SD40-2_009
[Train]SD45_001r
[Train]Boxcar_002
[Train]Centerbeam_005
[Train][A]Spine_Cars_004
[Train][2][B]Maxistack_I_001
The "r" stands for reverse so you can have engines that can be traveling the same direction as the lead engine, but backwards. Also when you have to place the train at its original position or it wont look right. It travels at 60km/hr with the use of a motion path. I will go more into detail when I release the pack.

I will be posting some pictures with the names underneath the trains as well. But don't expect it this weekend because It's a busy one.

Oh, hey, I like that! Nice contrasts. My only reservation is that we don't tend to see painted wings. However, this is a game and its all up to artistic license. Looks really good.

Yes, that will do nicely. Es muy bueno amigo! Also a quick question before I forget: when you made the movable trains, I'm guessing you made one motion path and assigned it to all cars in that train yes? Because on help page for the editor, Soji explains in the motion path section that if you have a motion path and you assign it to several ground objects, all ground obejcts will first move to the starting point of the motion path then continue on. But of course you have to leave the check box unmarked on the dialoague box for the motion path proerties otherwise weird things happen haha.

I did take a look see on the internet and the only reason I can fund that painted wings is not common place is due to cost. There are some airlines that have painted the wings so I guess there is no regulation against it.

Inspiration for it came from Colin Chapman's private aircraft.

I was thinking of doing a whole bunch of them if someone was willing to run them as a VA the drop me a PM.

That's exceptional. I had in mind airliners that don't tend to have painted wings, but I also said that I was quite impressed with the job you did anyway.

Yes, this is how to do it:
Image

I have the start of the motion path about 1m in front of the leading engine. Also you need to leave the "Loop" button unchecked for the obvious reason....... You don't want a train going off course. :P Even on turns they maintain their position, It's pretty cool if done right!

Update for Geneva AFB:

Image
(Still have to fix it)

Image

There are thousands of trees.......and I still get 64.08fps! That is only because the entire map is mainly elevation grids. Everything on my map is perfectly curved(I'll tell you tomorrow how, which a handful of you probably know by now).
