[POLL] Which Civilian Airplane Should I Do Next?

Post by decaff_42 » Wed Sep 02, 2015 11:25 pm

After the 787, I have a few more projects in the pipeline but after that, nothing really stands out to me. My current plan is to release the Velocity XL RG as is, and then work on my F-20 project.

However, I love reworking and moding models into YSFlight and I have found two semi-decent, I can work with, models for a 767-300 and 747-8F. Both will require a lot of work, but I cannot decide which to do, so I thought I would put it to the HQ community for some help deciding!

Yay, first voter, that's what happens when you pay a glance at m-chat. Seriously though a 767 would be awesome. I've been on a few before. My mom actually flew in an Air Canada 767 from Toronto to Venice, Italy a few weeks ago.
I've gotta go now here's a nice diagram for accurate scaling:

I'm going with the 767, also did you say F-20?

You should make an AWACS variant since the 767 is likely going to win.

Honestly, I'd like to see both. I'm just a huge fan of the 748 and I've liked every paint scheme I've seen on it. I do see that the 767 is not well represented in YS quite yet (though neither is the 747-800) and especially on a standard or high detail level.

To the best of my knowledge, there are no 747-8 models in YSF, but there are a few 767 models of roughly the same detail level as TF58's B757s.

Dan and Dave made a simple airliners 747-8, it's a pretty accurate base knowing Dan and dave ;)

for the 747-8,it obviously can modify a lot probably on TF58's B747-400 (maybe took the fuselage and some parts) but still credit him although looks like he's already inactive for a long time...

Thing is, the wings are quite different on the -8 than they were on the -4 and the fuselage is longer. Might be a good base even then but a lot of changes I'm afraid.

I was thinking Dan and Dave's would be a good example of one that's been done, but I haven't taken to the air yet in that one.

There are 767's but they have been forgotten over the years and no new repaints or models have been released in quite some time.

I'm still down for that Korean Air 747-800 though :D

It's looking like the 767 is winning, So I shall begin to do more research into wing-shape and other things for it. I like the idea of doing the AWAC version of the 767, and perhaps also the KC767 and KC-46 derivatives!

While it may be possible to simply reuse parts of TF58's 747s, the detail level is not where I would want it to be. With all the modifications I would have to do, it would be easier to start with a new model from FSX and rework that into the detail range that I want to have. I think that I will simply do the 747 project after the 767 (or vise versa if that is how the vote goes). For the 747 I want to have wing-bend similar to the 787s I did. It should be more complicated with the moving engines!

I voted for the 767. I have flown as a passenger in the 767 more than 10 times (at least) and it's a great long-haul airliner. And there isn't a truly detailed 767 for the sim yet. The closest one I can think of is the hybrid scheme JAL-Airdo 767-300ER that is available in one of the Japanese packs (KZS or CEP? Forgot which one). Anyway, knowing the amount of time and work and meticulous care you put into each aircraft you do, I know without doubt you'll have a fantastic 767 for us :D.

As always, plenty willing to help you out with photos and videos of flaps/ailerons and any other feature you might need help on. If you can this time, how about syncing the outboard spoilers with the ailerons? If not no worries, just a suggestion to try out.

My general rant: I will call them blended winglets, not Sharklets; There is no CEO, it's just simply put, an Airbus 319/320/321, or the 320NEO, 321NEO etc. I didn't land IN DAL, I landed AT DAL. On the other hand, I did land in Dallas.

Two years later,RBA retire them
Currently inactive,may return soon.
