Futuristic Fighter Jet

Post by ToxicSkylinesMH10 » Sat May 21, 2011 9:31 pm

Hey guys :)

Toxic here :D

Ive been coming up with a few new fighter jet designs in the past couple weeks, I'm ALMOST done with one of them, however, I need to give that one to a friend of mine to use for his school project before I can show it here :/ sucks a little

BUUUTTT!!!!

Ive got one jet on the factory line which I would like to show to you fine men and women
Its not quite done, (which means work in progress) (so I can put it here  )

I don't have an official name for it, but maybe you guys have some cool, or weird names that you can suggest

lol. appreciated man

After talking to Bombcat for a short amount of time, I was pointed out that a few features are not identifiable enough.
and also there are a few design flaws for being a "stealth" jet

sooooo back on the drawing board (Thank God that I didn't say I was finished)
I redrew some part of the plane, made it a little thinner in the middle, took off some edges on the tail wings and made the intakes a little smaller

A few things to point out, there are 6 GUNS < these would be the little black toothpicks on the plane in the little weird shaped areas>
<4 guns on both wings and 2 guns on each side of the middle>

other than that, there are missile pylons on the underside, and landing gear flaps

two lights on the nose of the jet

two lights on the tips of the wings

and two extremely small canards near the tail

The tail is a "V" shaped tail, so just imagine that they are pointing up at an angle

These are the new designs. BTW people, this IS for fun, and I mean, really, who would make it in real life? only for fun, that's really secretly why I play this game, also for your enjoyment :)

There are some definite improvements here, and you've explained some things pretty well. The largest thing I would recommend at this point would be to enlarge the engine exhaust area between the tail-fins. Bigger exhausts indicated more thrust, which is always a good thing.

Here it is with the larger exhaust and a few shades on it to distinguish things little better

Are you going to make a model for YS?

thanks Iceman :D

@ Vandal
well I hope so :)

but if it all breaks down and nobody wants to make ^this^ plane, then I'm just gonna keep making models until somebody does ;)

This also goes out to other people:
I can work pretty well with sketches and models, so if anyone would like for me to work with them to make something different or even just a base outline of the plane they would like someone to make, then you can just ask me and I'm sure we can work something out 8-)

I'm not very good with modeling, but I'm decent with using image editors.

pictures are a great help to modders. It gives a better idea of what to make and adds room for improvements or changes that are needed

friends don't let friends leave exposed mechanical components on stealth aircraft.

If you're going to have a stealth aircraft, if you're not going to be using thrust vectoring nozzles, which will probably be standard on your aircraft due to the tail design.
Use a LOAN nozzle.

I see both of your points

hmm (after searching it up)
I see what you mean about the difference that could make.
the LOAN actually looks pretty cool

I suppose I have two options here to change the stakes
1. use the LOAN exhaust system
or
2. recreate a thrust system like in the first drawings, but bigger and most likely only one exhaust instead of two
tell me what you guys think
I shall get to work on it again then

thanks guys :)

You might want to rethink your midwing guns position. From only the one view they look like they would blow off the wings when fired. You may want to go to a profile view as well it helps a lot in design development looking for design restrictions and errors.Just a suggestion from an old designer. :)
Or even a freeware CAD program would help.

i meant your open gun bays, which would destroy the aircraft's stealth

Wouldn't a good way to keep it stealth-ier to have an internal bay for missles and bombs and such? like a swing-out door on the bottom...I really don't know alot... I just think thatd give less for radar to find.
