Hi,
I understand this question may be a little off-topic, but please try to stick with me.
Anyways, I'm currently working on a project that needs the aircraft to be transferred to .FBX. Is there anyway to turn YSF aircraft into two .FBX files? (Gear in one, and everything else in another). And still maintain a relatively high quality model & texture? If so, I'd like some help on this.
Thanks!

It'd be best to convert from SRF/DNM to Blend, and then Blend to FBX.
Why is it that you need them in FBX? are you running something other than Blender?

Yeah, I prefer to run a different editor. I've been having some troubles with Blender recently, because I cannot get the SRF/DNM import ability installed correctly. (But that's a whole different problem.) Any help on that?

I don't know personally (I know barebones info about blender, haven't bothered to model anything outside of some cheap work for something a while back i'm not proud of), but Swift might know. I'll page him on the GrunSol discord and see if he can help out.

What version of blender are you trying to use, cuz I know for a fact that the scripts for the 2.7+ versions of blender aren't complete.

Yeah, I've been using a 2.7+ version for sure. Could you link me to the old downloads if possible?

Direct srf/dnm conversions aren't really too good.
I'd recommend using vrml (.wrl) or object (.obj) to transfer meshes it's old but pretty much accepted by many 3d modeling programs. I've used it to convert auto desk/solidworks/sketchup without hassle.
If your planning on taking a ys model I'd recommend you pull it up into blender remove any and all colors(use vertex paint to paint everything white) and animations (use the ipo editor), save as a .blend and the convert the parts to .obj or .wrl and import that into your program.

Hey, Swift.
Okay, so I've gotten the aircraft loaded into Blender, and have 'attempted' to export to .FBX. But the texture is not transferring over. Is there a way I can locate the texture/color image? (I know how to re-paste it on once its moved.)

that would be due to the fact that YSFlight doesn't support textures for dnm models, if I read that right.

There are no textures. Ys reads polygon/face colors. So DNMS/srfs are pretty much just mesh files when exported into anything else

An old 737 model, I can find the exact link if you'd like. (If that's what you were trying to ask.)

Alright. All I can say is dnms with a lot of moving parts will probably be more difficult to cope with so it's better to use a 37 with nothing but the main body and gear. Sorry, I wish I knew more about fbx files! ^^;
Also just a friendly reminder, check to see if the creator has a mod policy before modifying or importing it into other games
