i have been messing with using the OYS server program offline (using the dummie 127.0.0.1 IP addy) and i am finding it EXTREAMLY difficult to set the wind speed and direction. the instructions ask for wind speed in meters per second but is reported in knots. and the numbers entered do not equal the numbers out. and what is the TAF format refered to in the "/wind" command?

i love what you are doing with this program Flake, but there seems to be alot more confusion as how to use it than there should be.

The direction you enter is the opposite of the wind direction. If you sit it to 090, it will be blowing from 270. Wind is in kts. So if you want the wind to blow from the north at 4kts, you would enter the command, "/wind18004". That will make the wind blow from 360 at 4 kts.

You can't run executable files from a zip. You need to extract the whole program.

You need to extract all of it... not just the exe file.

But if you've done that, can you give me a screenshot of your explorer windows showing the file location? This may be a languageglobalisation issue.

Hi all,
Apologies if this question has an extremely obvious answer, but how does one make ground objects attack aircraft in OpenYS? I've modified the stock Hawaii map to include an IFF2 stronghold, but I have found that I can fly upside-down 10 feet above the bridge of an Udaloy with no response. Is there a way of enabling ground fire?
Thanks in advance.

I just want to say how great this program is. I'm new to the servers but I've been using YSFlight for about seven years. I wish I knew how easy the server aspect of it was years ago! Today I put YS on another laptop and used it as a server just to see if I could. Years ago I networked two computers via cable and forced my son to fly against me. Today I was shooting 'drones' via the internet (my flying partner left home a few years ago :-( ).

So thanks to everyone who's worked on the main program and all the modders and scenery makers, as well as the server operators!

looks like a funky bug involving the grounds objects list.

Coding a work around...

I think we may have found a new problem with the latest test version. It seems that sometimes when more than one person is flying, some aircraft don't appear at all. No names, no gray blocks, nothing. The person flying in the missing plane can usually see everybody else, though. It doesn't seem to be related to specific aircraft or packs.

It's kind of strange flying along and suddenly I get a message "Hey, I'm beside you right now", and you click F3 and it stays in my own cockpit view.

Me and Abel can Verify this. On the Grun Server during our practice last saturday, Abel couldn't see me at first.
