Think most of us not very interested is there background image on site or not.
Also, think, did we really need any background on forum?

I've been wanting to work on one but am way too busy on real life stuff + my ongoing map project. I'll try this weekend.

I wouldn't see any problem with addons.

Honestly hard to promote the power of YSF with just stock addons.

I am still interested in this and I might provide some contributions soon.

If I make an EDITED screenie suitable for the browser would that be okay?

My understanding is that the Image is set to FILL - ie: 100% vertical height and the width just overflows/underflows? but the image is centered?

I'll make things at 1920*1080 and maybe submit the edits in the editted screenies thread for review later. We'll see what people think.

If it were me, I'd rather a billion options to choose from then maybe 2/3.

Ya, for this there's not really any limit on submissions because a poll will be put up later on. If necessary, we may have a primary and secondary poll to narrow things down.

There's no specific rule on the topic saying you can't edit or use addons so assume if it's not on there that you can't, then it's okay to do. Of course it still says no inappropriate stuff, etc so don't take that too far ;)

I was online with Dan and David and saw an opportunity for a screenshot, so I took it and added it to my post.

Just so everyone knows, since there have been so many good submissions, I am leaving this open for another few days. Voting will probably take place throughout next week. If you haven't submitted yet, get yours in there. Your screenshots can't be voted on if you don't enter any ;)

Also remember, this is the discussion thread and the other is the submission thread. Try not to get them confused.

The poll is open on the YSFHQ Background Screenshot Contest topic!

You may only vote for 1 choice so choose wisely! Runner-ups may be considered for later contests/uses with permission of the submitter.

No more submissions are allowed at this point and will not be considered in the poll.

Remember, the winning screenshot will go on the background of YSFHQ so consider that when voting. Have fun and good luck to all the participants!

Probably possible, but we want to know what you think is the best. That way we have a ranking for the images and if we can't have multiple ones, we get the best.

Just a reminder here, please refer to my last post in the Poll/Submission thread. I did some really basic (crappy) edits on everyone's screenshot to give you an idea what it would look like. On the new theme, the back will be transparent and then the background will stick out to the sides as seen. The view will probably vary with everyone's screen and platform. Just something to keep in mind when voting. Yes, you can change your vote whenever you want until the contest ends.

While I'm confident that everyone who've submitted their entries have given their best (and it shows!), I can only pick one.

After reconsidering my choices a few times, I shortlisted 3 screenies which IMO are the best composed and most appropriate:
  • Virtual Airlines Activity - Patrick31337
  • Blues Over Vuelo Beach - OfficerFlake
  • Yemen Valley - Robert Sanderson
And my final vote goes to...

Blues Over Vuelo Beach - OfficerFlake

-mostly because it's a more cheerful looking because of the bright sky, added in with VNAF's Vuelo Beach.

I agree, though I would say UK Heathrow would be an awesome addition to that list. I have to put my vote in for Yemen because I think it looks really good with the forum theme and is somewhat similar to the current one. Not trying to be biased that it's my map either, because I really like a lot of the others too. Just happens that Vuelo is also mine too :D

I think the isometric style top down views are working best. UK Heathrow by Pat looks amazing.
