I have created this topic solely for the purpose of any questions/comments/concerns related to the Civilian Flight Night this Sunday, Jan. 11. Feel free to post your comments or questions here.
----------------------------------

Here's a breakdown of flights so far (based on filed flight plans). Keep in mind this is not counting the few additional ones that may pop up between now and tomorrow, and after the event starts.

How many flight plans can we file? Do we need to file plans for VFR flights between UNICOM-only airports?

You don't have to file flightplans if you're going to do flights between two UNICOM-only airports.

For the reference of everyone, if you're doing a flight from a controlled airport to a UNICOM-only airport, or vice-versa, yes, please file a flight plan.

As far as how many, that's up to you. As many as you can fit within a three-hour time period. Off the top of my head, you could even easily do some thing like Lihue-Kona, then another flight Kona-HNL and probably have some time left for a very short hop from HNL to Lanai/Molokai.

Is it possible to file a flight plan with ATC on site during the event or is it required to post one in advance of the event any flexibility there?

Umm, good question. I had not really thought about that. I'll get back with you on this one, and update the Civilian Flight Night topic in the YSATC forum once that's been decided on.

I will probly be able to hop on and I have a question too;

How does one attribute a callsign and flight number to an independant pilot?

By "independent pilot" if you mean a general aviation aircraft, just make up an N-number e.g: N123MB or something like that (it doesn't have to be a real-life N-number). So your callsign would be N123MB and that's what you will file in the flight plan under "callsign." When you spawn in your start position, you can just contact the tower (if one is present) or announce yourself on UNICOM using the N-number (e.g. "November one-two-three Mike Bravo at Scenic 1 requesting clearance to Molokai" OR "Molokai traffic, November one-two-three Mike Bravo on the ramp taxiing out to RWY 02 for departure")

If you plan on flying something like a Delta 757 or Global 330, it will be Delta (flight number) or Global (flight number).

I've edited the flight night discussion topic to account for this.

I've seen the active runways for the event and I have one tiny request. Could you open up the Reef runway for just one landing? One of the planes I'll be flying will be an amphibian one :) I'll file my flight plan tomorrow night.

^This actually goes to the question Patrick asked me a few back about amphibious aircraft. RWY 8W and 4W at HNL will be available for water operations, so if you're flying an amphibian you'll be using one of those runways. Should have mentioned that litle bit when I made the edit yesterday

Also, to get back to Gunny's question about filing flight plans during the event - yes, you will be allowed to file flight plans once it starts with one requirement - it has to be done in Teamspeak chat. F12 for flight plans might get messy quickly, and we can't check in the Civ Flight Night thread while controlling. We will accept flight plans in the other thread (Civ Flight Night in the YSATC forum) until 1 hour before it starts, then stop accepting them there, and accept them in Teamspeak.

We'd much rather prefer you file before the event starts, but if you can't decide beforehand no worries :).

What would this involve? I didn't install any fire trucks on the server, so I would have to go back and do that. Which pack has the water cannon?

^Actually, TF 58's fire trucks come equipped with water "jets", if you can call them that. Obviously YSFS has no way to make animated water jets so they're essentially solid objects that represent water spray. If memoeyr serves I believe you make them appear with the bomb bay door key and them move them around with the mouse.

Are cargo aircraft allowed? Like 130's and C-17's?

Hey VNAF, Turbofan or Patrick,

A slightly similar question, would the Handley Page Victor K.2 be allowed? The K version has no bombs or weapons and is an aerial refueling tanker. Also I understand it is a military aircraft and this is a civilian event but Hey!, it would be unique and It's a beast to fly. If not then no worries I do have alternate aircraft and plans. :)

I honestly wouldn't mind, but in the good taste of the civilian nature of the event, I would recommend sticking to a civilian type of flight. There's tons of ways to do that such as even flying a privately owned or restored warbird or something. Just looking to have some fun air traffic at the event with some good old criss-crossing airliners and GA stuff. That as well as flying a transport is just my opinion though but I'm not in charge of anything here.

I may take your recommendation, thanks for your opinion VNAF. Might just stick to the trusty Beechcraft king air eh? ;)

I am planning to keep this civilian-only, although a few military cargo planes may have slipped in. You can install all the packs and see what I have running on the server.
