I was thinking of making a ww2 server. And maybe use the down in flames aircraft addon with some ww2 map (or maybe the naha airport map). It would be called something like ww2 down in flames server or something. I dont know... any ideas? Would like lots of support might even make my own forum page about it.

RiderRocket,

Do you need help creating your server or opinions on what the server should be like?

Sounds good. Running a server isn't hard, especially if its mainly combat. Would it be 24/7 or a server online sometimes?

Charlie,

Unfortunately because the internet is difficult and complex to figure out. Unless you study this stuff.

Just to add, the YSF server part could hardly be easier - if you only want a simple server - you just have to run the program.
Then the program gives you an IP address for an internal server (which is what I use)
If you want an external one, you have to start the more complex process.
And then

You're right. It does need to change, there are much easier ways. I hope to solve this problem.
I make this website.

Ace Lord has a method of doing it. I just forgot how to. I'll keep in touch and ask him how he does it :)

Also, the latest post used to be last year before Charlie. What happened?

If you've fixed it, it does not hurt to explain how so other people may learn from it... ;)

Not wanting to revive a dead topic but I guess that's why this topic is stickied.

I spent about an hour and a half messing around with YSFlight and my router, I forwarded the port, allowed YSF access through Windows Firewall and it still wouldn't work. The one thing I didn't see whilst I was in the router was Virtual Server. I even attempted "Port Triggering" and that didn't work either. My router is a EE BrightBox 2 if that's any help.

EDIT: Never mind, got the server up.

With the EE BrightBox 2 Router, just forward port 7915 and add whichever version of YS or the Server Console to Windows Firewall.

Not sure where I was going wrong last night.

Go to Google and type in "what is my IP address?" It will tell you.
Click this link:
https://www.google.com/search?q=what+is ... s&ie=UTF-8

If your IP address stays the same for long periods of time (I know of one person whose address has been the same for months now), you'll be fine with using that.

If you happen to have an ISP that changes your IP address from time to time, you will need a service like noip.com, which is free for the basic service, which will install a program on your computer that updates noip.com and gives you a permanent address to put on the server list in place of your local IP address.
