Vary nice Pat.But I would suggest that you not engage the heading bug until you are established on your heading and cruising altitude.And to use the nav1 in conjunction with the heading bug to maintain course corrections over long distance over 100 nm.If you see the needle drifting off course activate the heading bud and correct as necessary then go back to nav1 until the next correction is required.The reason for this is that while the heading bug is active nav1 or nav2 is inactive they will still read distance[if it is Vor-dme ]and direction but you can not manipulate it until it is reactivated.Also when you disengage heading bug it will automatically default to the auto pilot so you will not loose heading or altitude as a result.
