Where is 20181124 Linux 32bit ?

Post by In Revolt »

Hi! I'm new here and i want to ask a simple question.
Why all of the newest versions of YSFlight for linux that came after 20150425
don't have 32bit launcher? Seems to me that only 64bit launchers are present.
Will it ever be 32bit 20181124 for linux or is there a way for compile it? I don't
want buying new 64bit PC for playing this old , buggy , poor graphic flightsim.

There aren't a whole lot of Linux users here, but honestly the 2018 version isn't really worth it. Very few people actually run it regularly, and all the servers are 2015 or earlier, which is incompatible with the 2018 version.

YS FLIGHT SIMULATOR 20160401 Ready for Download!

Actually, the files not yet available on site, but will be uploaded in few days. So, be wait little.
As always, I thank all users who sent me bug reports and comments for the test version. I really appreciate your help!
The major update (other than bug fixes) are as follows:
- Scenery and mission can have changeable weather settings.
- No more special DAT files for ground object ships or cars. Now DAT file structure include variables for all types of vehicles (older addons steal work well, but try rewrite them to new specification)
- Now any vehicle can be carrier and have decks if yo add string with path to ACP-file (also possible more than one deck).
- Added sun in the sky at day and stars with moon at night
- Added for helicopter autopilot all functions presented in aircraft autopilot
- Added many new CLA, for example now you can make separate doors on aircraft: carrier door, bomb bay door, etc.
- Added "pilot.dnm" for LST structure, that can be used for pilot eject from aircraft. For details I will say later.
- Added partly damaging using step-by-step disabling SRF parts from DNM
- Added new category in DAT-files for special purpose:

ONGROUND - use it for creating all types of non-flying vehicles
ONWATER - use it for creating all types of boats, that can move only on water area, and will explose if touch sea border
BUILDING - use it for all types mostly not movable ground objects

- Add new GNDCLASS according to new category variables:

ILS, VASI, NDB, PAPI_LEFT, PAPI_RIGHT, TOWER, TRACKER - use it only with CATEGORY BUILDING for special navigational objects
WINDSOCK, WINDMILL - use it only with CATEGORY BUILDING specially for wind controlled objects
SUBMARINE - use it only with CATEGORY ONWATER for underwater vehicles. It can dive under "zero" level of scenery, and while be under water its impossible shoot them from air.
FUEL_TANKER - use it with CATEGORY ONWATER for make ship tanker
FUEL_TRACK - use it only with CATEGORY ONGROUND for make car tanker
TANK, GEPARD, AAM, SAM - use it only with CATEGORY ONGROUND for artillery
HUMAN - special for human

- Add new AIRCLASS types:

AMPHIBIAN - aircraft that can land on water area with or without extracted landing gear, but for landing on land area extracted gears needed.
FUEL_TANKER - aircraft for make refueling in the air

- Added new wariables in DAT:

WEIGHTPT - centre mass point position
TURRETRK - rotated rocket pod (alternative for TURRETAM used only for guns)

- Add new weapon:

TORP - torpedo, that used like bomb, but can move on water surface or under water after dropping from aircraft or ship and explode if touch other object. Also it will explode if gone to land area.
BSUB - special bomb for submarines, that will explose under "zero" level of water and if closer than 15feet(5m) to submarine.
some other weapons, that will be described soon

- Fixed: Aerodynamic calculation improved
- Fixed: Now only vehicles with AIRCLASS AMPHIBIAN, GNDCLASS SHIP and GNDCLASS SUBMARINE can move on water area.
- Fixed: Propeller animations controlled by REALPROP variables if presented
- Fixed: Autopilot improved for helicopters hovering and landing
- Fixed: Replays now can be near 100000 seconds
- Fixed: Now no problems with transparency on propellers and glasses
- Fixed: Objects and elevation grids far from user now shown without bugs
- Fixed: Key assigns, like F6/F9 and F7/F8 can be easely fixed or remapped
- Fixed: Internal system fonts include full Unicode characters and improved
There are many other major and minor changes. Full changelog I will publish on the end of April.

I'm trying to create a ground vehicle with ISPNS. Will it be possible with newest versions?

That was u2fly's April Fools Day post from 2016. None of those are real updates.

I can't speak for Linux or Mac, but the 2018 Windows version runs a lot more slowly than the 2015 version, all for only a couple graphical changes. 2015 is best for online stuff. Opinions differ for offline, but I'm a fan of 2013 because the helicopters aren't broken like they are in 2015+.

What do you mean by "helicopters are broken" in 2015+ versions?

Maneuverability is now a function of throttle, because helicopters use the post stall system, and Soji changed post stall maneuverability to be a function of throttle to better simulate thrust-vectoring aircraft like the F-22, but in the process broke helicopters. It can be fixed with a couple lines, but those lines need to be manually added to every single helicopter .dat. The change was made in the 2014 test version, so 2013 and earlier don't have that issue. Basically it means as you come in to hover, or cut power to descend your helicopter gets less and less responsive until it becomes uncontrollable at idle. Many helos in YS hover between 30% and 60% throttle, so you're getting roughly half your actual maneuverability right when you need it most.

Could you post those few lines for fix helicopters DAT manually?

Yeah! Helicopters are "broken" all the way. They can fly sideways and diagonally up to 60kts without tilting and you don't need to use rudder propeller to overcome natural tendencies of helicopter to yaw in direction with highest air drag. Also flying backwards is the same as flying forward - no asymmetric drag.

To limit sliding sideways like forever you should lower MANESPD1 60kt to MANESPD1 20kt or maybe lower.

Regarding the 64bit vs 32bit version of YSFLIGHT under linux, it seems the 20181124 installer has a check mechanism to determine the type of system it is being run upon. And depending what os type it is, it will extract/install the appropriate executables.

This is what exists in the installer file:

Code: Select all

YSFLIGHT32_GL1=os.path.join(YSFLIGHTPATH,"ysflight32_gl1")
YSFLIGHT32_GL2=os.path.join(YSFLIGHTPATH,"ysflight32_gl2")
YSFLIGHT32_CONSVR=os.path.join(YSFLIGHTPATH,"ysflight32_nownd")

YSFLIGHT64_GL1=os.path.join(YSFLIGHTPATH,"ysflight64_gl1")
YSFLIGHT64_GL2=os.path.join(YSFLIGHTPATH,"ysflight64_gl2")
YSFLIGHT64_CONSVR=os.path.join(YSFLIGHTPATH,"ysflight64_nownd")

#FileCheck(YSFLIGHT32_GL1)
#FileCheck(YSFLIGHT32_GL2)
#FileCheck(YSFLIGHT32_CONSVR)
FileCheck(YSFLIGHT64_GL1)
FileCheck(YSFLIGHT64_GL2)
FileCheck(YSFLIGHT64_CONSVR)

if sys.maxsize>2**32:
	bitness=64
else:
	bitness=32

print("Detected "+str(bitness)+"-bit environment")

if 64==bitness:
	MakeDesktopIcon("YSFLIGHT1.desktop","YSFLIGHT\\n(OpenGL 1.1)",YSFLIGHT64_GL1)
	MakeDesktopIcon("YSFLIGHT2.desktop","YSFLIGHT\\n(OpenGL 2.x)",YSFLIGHT64_GL2)
	MakeDesktopIcon("YSFLIGHT3.desktop","YSFLIGHT\\n(Console Server)",YSFLIGHT64_CONSVR)
else:
	MakeDesktopIcon("YSFLIGHT1.desktop","YSFLIGHT\\n(OpenGL 1.1)",YSFLIGHT32_GL1)
	MakeDesktopIcon("YSFLIGHT2.desktop","YSFLIGHT\\n(OpenGL 2.x)",YSFLIGHT32_GL2)
	MakeDesktopIcon("YSFLIGHT3.desktop","YSFLIGHT\\n(Console Server)",YSFLIGHT32_CONSVR)

There is no 32bit executable at all in downloaded archive,so this code won't even check
for 32bit.As you can see lines for file check are #. When i remove # from the lines and run it , it returns:

YSFLIGHT copied to:/root/YSFLIGHT.COM/ysflight
/root/YSFLIGHT.COM/ysflight/ysflight32_gl1 not found
Press ENTER>>

In common way my linux don't need the game to be installed to run ysflight32_gl1 exe.
It runs it anyway.
