Just tried a fresh install of YSFlight...and...
please help.
At first I used to get angry, now I try to be amused.

Which version? 2018 OGL2 has pretty poor performance.

2018 OGL1 in this case, to be honest even 2011-2012 versions are not much better. Unbelievable that this game runs so badly out of the box, not what I remember at all.
At first I used to get angry, now I try to be amused.

Mind telling tell us your specs? I've been using the 2011 version for years now and I routinely get 64 fps. But yeah the 2018 <any> version is not going to run well, at all.

I get around 40-50fps on X-Plane lol

Did you test on several different maps?
Some tend to cause issues. Unsure as to why you could have any issues in the 2011-2012 versions. I've flown it for years and know people who have been flying on it for years before that and have never had any issues.
As for the 2018 version, well...
