Define Area LAND/WATER in Scenery Editor

How to define witch part of the map is LAND and witch part is WATER?
I don't get it.

Edit > Insert > Motion Path/Area, and in the subsequent box, from the NO AREA dropdown select LAND or WATER. I don't actually know what happens if a motion path isn't a loop and you specify land/water. It might be like dividing by zero or something.

FYI, There are many good tutorials for SceneryEditor on decaff_42's site So, I highly recommend you read & watch it firstly.
