Or, you know, open gepoly and export/save the blank model as "null.srf" ;)
What if you use Mac?

I would assume that if you open Blender and have a blank model (not even a vertex), and export it as a .srf and name it null.srf, it will come out as a blank .srf file. Does Mac have a text editor? Is there a Mac version of one of the freeware/open source Notepad clones?

from an old relatable thread: viewtopic.php?p=62455#p62455
Taskforce 58 wrote:The deck and catapult SRF must consist of only ONE polygon.
how? what is this one polygon? how is it done.....
even Pat mentions one polygon objects, in his tutorial....how can a object be made one polygon......

PS: there is something about multiuple polygon in the mentioned old thread....

Thanks again....

Basically, the visual model plays zero role in aircraft interaction, and the collision model only plays a role when you crash into the side. Most interactions between the carrier and the aircraft involve the deck.srf, catapult.srf, and wire.srf models. The deck.srf is made up only of the faces that the aircraft will move upon. The catapult.srf is cut out of the deck.srf and must have a single polygon face. The wire.srf is cut out of the deck.srf and is the area where the aircraft will touch down and start braking just before it reaches the wire as defined in the .acp.

You need to open up stock carriers and their parts and see for yourself.

Here's a random question... has anyone used the keyword MONTRILS in an aircraft DAT file? I ask because I was digging around the innards of FSMAINDX.exe (exploring, that is, NOT hacking) and this keyword leapt out from amind many familiar ones:

...INITRCKT GUNDIREC VGWSPED2 VGWSPED1 GUNPOWER MONTRILS INITBOMB WEAPONCH SMOKEOIL MACHNGN2 RADARCRS MANESPD3 INITIAGM INITIAAM INITIGUN...

...If nothing else, this exploration has revealed several other rarely-used keywords like TURRETWP (like GUNPOWER on ground-based turrets) and so on. Just open your FSMAINDX in notepad or similar and take a look.

I've done the same thing. In fact I modded on of my FSMAIN*.EXE's once upon a time to hide those damned annoying "STALL" messages that show up during airshows when filming and just look ugly AF. (And no, you can't have this exe aero nuts, deal with it. ;P)

Never seen MONTRILS used before.

Also is MANESPD3 new?

Might have to try and find out what these are!

MANESPD3 is to do with driveable ground vehicles. And yeah, I too modded an FSMAIN.exe to get rid of SHOOT when you get missile lock on AGM65s. But, hmm, getting rid of stall might be interesting...

Here is two strings that related to font inside this file

Code: Select all

FONTNAME ""
FONTHEIGHT 14
Bamp. Anyone know how to do this? Text is HARD to read on screen...

EDIT: Seems this functionality was removed by Soji after 2009 update, and it only supported a few fonts anyway: "Arial", "Times New Roman", "System Default", "MS Sand Serif".

Thanks Soji. Only you would make the chat text on servers GREEN. JFC...

You'll either need to replace the stock carrier files, or modify the maps

Just seen latest screenshot from JTF109: https://twitter.com/JTF109_ysfs/status/ ... 6708195328

Is it some custom aircraft "Loading" menu (with more weapons) added into their own YSFlight fork? (as YSFlight already open-source)
