Hi, Can you give more informations like your specs?
Also did you tried both DirectX and OpenGL versions? (d3d9, gl1 and gl2).

Please post:
Ram
CPU
Graphics card (if any)
Windows Version

Try re installing YS, that usually fixes most problems. And shut down all other programs to see if the lag gets better

Well windows 7 really needs around 4gb of ram to run properly (with games anyway)

Control panel>Devices&Printers>device manager (under display adapter)

That will show you all the hardware you have installed.

Yes. If you have a desktop or a laptop with user-upgradable RAM, I can walk you through how to purchase and install more RAM. I've done it before - it's not as hard as it seems.

As for GPU, YSFlight isn't very GPU intensive (as a result of it's age and it's nature), but having a good GPU can help with sustaining Framerates.

It could also be a result of severe bottlenecking (be it by your CPU, GPU or RAM) - Bottlenecking in computing is where one component is holding back the computing capabilities of other components, in this case, It's most likely your RAM.

You can have virtual RAM for the computer. What you need is a free disk space or a usb stick.

That won't really help.
VRAM is used for preventing computers from freezing up due to lack of physical memory, and should never be used in lieu of internal physical RAM.

Realism versions? From who...? The one who shall not be named?

Reason I asked about your video card because sometimes text drawing gets messed up

It works better a bit when I put a USB memory which I make it into a VRAM. (it depends, but it kind of works)
Well, but I'm not really good with computers in general, so you decide if VRAM works :(

Galen Thurber is the creator of a Standalone version of YSFlight that he claims to be realistic. The guy has been known for stealing aircraft and using them without permission. He's Persona Non Grata here.

But back on topic. Paintrain, where exactly does the lag occur? also, how many mods do you have installed?

Basically the first result that you get when you search up "ysflight realism". It messes up your install, so it is highly unrecommended.

Anyway, regarding your laggy menu, how many addons have you loaded? If you have many many aircraft then naturally it will lag.

Could you tell us your computer model? Telling us just the RAM and OS isn't enough for us to help you significantly. Give us the CPU and GPU models at the very least. Maybe you don't have a dedicated GPU and instead use integrated graphics, but that's okay.

Also, is your disk near full capacity? I'm just guessing here but generally if your disk is full your computer would slow down.
