If YS stops support for working versions of Windows (pre Win7), then bye bye YS, I'll move on to FSX.
 ^Over reaction of the day.

oooo, lots of improvements to OpenGL2, but ehhh... The preview is broken (for addon aircraft) and the new shading is only available on the AOMORI map for some reason

for the other versions (D3D9, OpenGL 1.x), everything looks the same, except for the uhh... clouds. Their shading got a bit off, but hey, they are transparent!

can't wait for the final release
loved it.

Something definitely feels "new" with the lighting and shadows for sure. I commend Soji for his hard work, scene lighting is no joke. Stock performance is 60 fps consistent. Time to try out some heavy addons. :)

You sure? I got the new shadows in other maps working, at least on the stock F-22. But I can confirm that preview is messed up for addons.... :|

Yup we took a slight performance hit, 8-10 fps sometimes, usually near the ground where the shadows are the best defined. Doesn't matter what gfx you have, since I'm using an overclocked 1080.

Still, I'm liking it so far.

Unfortunately mine turns 0.0 fps. All versions past 20120701 seem to either not open or go between 0 and 5 fps.

I was about to reply with some screenshots of the issue. So i went on, deactivated the "ALWAYS SHOW HUD" option to get some screenshots, and look! The shadows are back! Should report that to Soji.

(1) Windows 10 Pro x64
(2)
  • Intel Core i5-4460 @3.2GHz 4 cores and threads
    NVIDIA Geforce GTX 750 Ti 2GB GDDR5
(3) 6 months
(4) Whenever the HUD is displayed on a external camera, the enhanced shadows won't show up (YSFLIGHT OpenGL 2.x)

1) Windows 10 Home x64
2) Intel Celeron @ 1.6Ghz dual core
Intel Integrated HD graphics
3) 4 Years
4) On the Direct 3d version, the missile warning color is white. Is this a new change?

(1) Windows 10 Home 64Bit.
(2) AMD A10-9600P (Quad core underclocked to 1ghz with auto overclock disabled for cooling, usually overclocked when gaming), Radeon R5 (6 cores).
(3) 1 year.
(4) Slight drop to FPS which is understandable with all the new lighting and shadows, this was noticed with both stock and HD addons (namely my Firefly). Preview is messed up, nothing new there, the new shadows did work well on the old dnm version. Model shading appears to be much smoother on all versions. DirectX clouds appear to be luminescent during the day time. Z-Buffer set to FAST doesn't have the usual drawbacks as it did in previous versions with the usual FPS boost. Z-Buffer also seems to have very little graphical difference at long ranges.

My opinion: The new shadows are impressive and give YS that extra boost to detail.

Good job Soji, worth the wait ;)

On OpenGL 2 i normally get 7 FPS (even disabling the cloud).
At aircraft preview, most of the problems are on prop aircraft.
Copilot and as well others view don't work properly, as seen on the images.
Both YSFlight versions crash when i close it.

My settings:
Processor Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5200 @ 2.50GHz
RAM 2.0 GB
Video Card NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS
Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 (build 14393), 64-bit

That missing polygon issue is a hardware/driver issue on the users pc.

Ive had that issue with previous tets and stable versions. Anvidia update broke alot of games and gave me a lot of rendering problems.

I did a uick test and everything seems fine. Aound 30-50fps No errors. Shadows work but are a bit choppy when over some faces. Im guessing low poly models are gonna be even crappier with the dynamic shadows.
I did get a an error on close

Self-shadow look like shadow of voxel 3D model, and not like expected shadow of polygonal model. :-/
