Editing dat (change flare to paratrooper)

Post by vmateen » Tue Apr 25, 2017 4:19 pm

Hello again,

I'm toying around with changing the default flare srf for cargo planes to a paratrooper. I've seen posts saying that it is a great idea and all, but I'm stuck with how i modify the file to make the paratrooper srf replace the flare...can anyone assist please :/

In the aircraft's .dat file, put the .srf filepath:
WPNSHAPE FLR FLYING file/path/here.srf

It only affects the aircraft you change the .dat for, so you won't have fighters popping skydivers out during dogfights.

I tried that a few months ago and it sure works. However, they lag your gameplay a lot.

Im afraid the paratroopers would disappear before reaching the ground, just like every flares... Or would they?

That poor paratrooper selflessly giving his life to distract the enemy missile to save his comrade's airplane.

Press F for respect.

Oh, and the paratrooper self destructs when it touches the ground. This was my second problem.

If you fly close enuff to the ground they would explode without sound. If they dropped from high altitude they would simply disappear eventually.
Why dont use 250HD, both explosive, but 250HD won't disappear, going down the same behavior with paratroops, only this time could damage and with explosive sound.
I saw dragonic machine industries released beautiful HD bombs skins, i wonder if they could change it with paratroops...

They don't explode. They drop flash bang and smoke grenades and run to cover, which is why they disappear. ;)
