Re: 42South Server
Tons of new features are now available for your enjoyment. Type "/help" into the text box to get an idea of what you can now do. Kicking/Banning is off limits, as well as some server controls.
Post any general server issues here!

Re: 42South Server
(This essentially puts the group name automatically at the front of your username. Also allows separate ranks to be made for your group which you can adjust online. The rank is at the end of your name)
Example:
VFA-49 Group
My name would be [VFA-49]Midnight Rambler[Commander] - or whatever it is.
Another - [SERVER]Midnight Rambler[ADMIN] - My current online one.
I log into the server as "Midnight Rambler" and Orb adds the others.
CO/CEO will be put in charge and then it's up to them as to how they decide to use it.
To alter; "/commands.maintenence" and then follow the prompts.

Latest Changes:
- Fixed the bug where username/ground object name is replaced by the name of the object itself.
- Fixed a bug where smoke color would not update correctly after using special smoke. [NOT TESTED]
So I've attempted to build a combat tournament but that fell apart when the planes went missing and school started up again.
So. I've got this server that runs 24hr/7 days a week and has provided all sorts of fun to people over the year or so I've had it running. We've got an awesome admin team with varied experience, enthusiasm and time to commit.
But it seems that the server is becoming stagnant. We've been running the modified Hawaii map for a while now and it was popular when first released, now not so much... I think.
So, what I want is suggestions. I want suggestions on how to make the server better for those who use it. Suggest maps, game modes (WW2, space, ships, land battle, racing, etc) and anything else you want to see happen on the server. All in all, I want you to direct the server and make it fun for you.

Re: 42South Server
If you do go with Tohoku. How about making the northern half IFF1 and the southern half IFF4, or the other way around, throw some AAA, SAM, carriers and Udaloys or Burkes in there. Guess that'd make it sorta like a newb friendly WW3 server? Anyways... I may be asking for a bit much here, but ideas are ideas.

Re: 42South Server
Tohoku now running for a while. It's got some enemy bases and fleets on there. I recommend having the 171st ground pack installed to get the most from the map.
I've also removed 10 larger packs from the server. My login dropped to 45 seconds from 90+ so it's an improvement.
Also included the 727 pack and 747 repaint pack from YSUpload.
I'm also planning on installing and getting YSRadar up and running.

YSRadar is now up and running on 42South.
How to use:
Download the client from here - http://ysu.ysfhq.com/download.php?id=354
Run the Client.exe contained.
In the address bar, type "42south.dyndns.org" and click Connect!
In power, click Radar On. This will display the flight radar.
You can adjust the range and other settings in the RadarSetting menu.
The following are instructions found in the YSATC2 folder download:
[spoil]*QuickStart*
1.Execute "client.exe".
2.A small window ,I'll call it "standby window",will appear.
3.From the menu,select "Power->Connect to ATCserver"
4.Success massage should appear.Then select "Power->RadarOn".
*PAR*
This is so called "Precise Approach Radar".
Select ".par file" (which define the runway's heading and position.)
The glidepath is showed above, and the localizer is showed below.
Arrival airplane(s) in 10miles will be showd with the altitude and the course direction like "Left of course".
*Radar*
Airplanes under 100ft are not showed.
Left click on an airplane or the data tag to remove the airplane from the radar screen for a few second.
Left click with "Alt" pressed on a "point" (which is defined in *.point files) to move the center position to the point.
Left click with "Shift" pressed at two position to calculate distance(mile) and degree between the two clicked point.
Center click on an airplane or the data tag to move the tag.(4direction:northeast,northwest,southwest,southeast)
Right click on a "point" to remove it till restarting the radar window.
*Settings*
Select RadarSetting->range to set range of the radar.
Input positive numeral such as 1,3,or 0.2 and press "enter".[/spoil]
To enhance the experience, I recommend using the Tohoku.point file contained in the above install. Before opening the radar, go to RadarSetting, read.point and select the Tohoku.Point file.
This file includes the airports in the map as points on the radar, locationally correct. This way you can direct aircraft into airports easier.

Re: 42South Server
Nah, I've got no idea. Has it always done it? Is it because of Tohoku? Happen to any other server? Are there people flying when it happens?

Re: 42South Server
Due to dyndns closing their free host name service, 42South will be using a new IP Address.
The new address will be: 42south.servegame.com - please use this address when connecting to the server!

Re: 42South Server
Might i Suggest GAC and GACRp to begin with, and then.. maybe HQPGAC Stuff, then the Squad Addons. And to leave the Civvies Happy, some 747s. That should put us at around less than 700 aircraft on the server.Rise and Shine wrote:Also, this problem has been long standing. Can you reduce the list of addons installed on the server, so the log in time does not surpass like a minute? Sometimes I can't even join.
To be honest, i have no damned idea why Soji made that map. And don't say for teh lulz.megaprime13 wrote:I think for fun we should have that slapstick map loaded sometime.
Also, I'm feeling like coming onto multiplayer tonight, anyone feel like joining in just to fly around for the hell of it?
