Re: 42South Server
Glad you've enjoyed the server as much as I have! I'm planning on having the final fly-in/furball on either the 21st or 22nd of December so keep an eye out for the event topic when the date gets closer.
-- Sun Dec 14, 2014 6:31 pm --
Look to keep next Sunday (Saturday for the Yanks) open for this event. I'll post a time later in the week to nail the final fly-in. At the end of the fly-in, I'll shut the server down. One week until shutdown, peeps.
-- Sat Dec 20, 2014 4:48 pm --
This is tomorrow. In roughly 14 or so hours from now I'll be getting on. I'll release the admin plane later tonight so people can use it on the server.
-- Sun Dec 21, 2014 11:12 am --
All done and dusted. Thanks for the fun today, we had roughly 16 people flying with most going crazy in the admin plane.
Server is closed, and will not re-open. Can an admin please lock this topic.

Re: 42South Server
It is my pleasure to announce that the 42South Server will be returning to the YSFlight skies for a trial. Providing that the server is well received and utilised, it will stay online for the foreseeable future for everyone to enjoy once again!
For the new guys, 42South was a server run by me and a team of 8 moderators, starting in approx. 2011 that slowly grew to be loved by many YSFHQ members over the years. It quickly became a hub for all members; military, aerobatic, civilian and newbie to come together and fly. It was regular to see greater that 8 people flying simultaneously and I had a ball running it!
I've noticed lately that there lacks a single meeting place server, where anyone can fly and have an area that caters to their needs. So I thought I might give it a trial run and bring it back. Please familiarise yourself with the OP of this topic, some of the information has changed!
Changes:
Staff roster cleared - if the need arises, I'll begin recruiting staff again.
Server addons - We have a much smaller list of addons. Please help us fill it by filling the addon request form (especially VS's).
YSChat - has been retired. Mainly from a technical POV, the windows executable won't work on Linux and I don't have the python file to make it work.
Bi-weekly events - We're planning on running bi-weekly events based on different sections of YS. Some examples include airshows, military events, mass fly-ins, ATC events and racing events (land and air).
Possibly the biggest change to the server is the software and host location. This time the server is running on linux and is based in NY, USA and not Australia. I hope that this will bring faster speeds to all members that fly. Currently the download and upload speeds are ridiculously fast (see below!)

Any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me or post in this topic. In the mean time, enjoy your flight!

Re: 42South Server
Thank you for including our squadron's aircraft pack! Though I am rather confused as to why it's categories as misc. rather than a squadron pack. No worries. Glad to see this server back!

Re: 42South Server
So I've updated the packs and included a heap of VAs now. Again, if you want an aircraft on just let me know! Yesterday we had a good turn out with 8 people dogfighting with no lag which is a great result!

@everyone, be advised there is now a massive enemy installation to the south of Sendai. The entire south part of the island is a SAM/AAA and carrier group nest. Civilians should be ok if they don't go south of Matsushima on IFF1.
(I went nuts in scenery editor and its rough, but let me know what you think!)

EDIT: The carrier group near SENDAI airport needs to be moved further away. i just tried to take off from there and got missile spamed 3/4 of the way down the runway while still on the ground.

@everyone; I've updated the southern enemy installations. It's.... huge. All enemy bases are IFF4 on the map. Civilians should be ok as long as they don't go south of Sendai.

Also keep an eye out for upcoming map changes and bi-weekly events. We're also looking at hosting an airshow in the future so stay tuned.
