A little something I'm working on. I'm not sure if I'll expand it to the B and C variants, but we will see.
great! now we have decaff version of F-35...
let's hope that the 748 will not been shelved like other projects....
anyway, will the -C version have functional refueling probe?(as-B version can't have it except using thrust reverser CLA)
and will it also have the burning fuel like the current F-35?

Much to my chagrin, I discovered that CEP has a better quality mesh for the F-35. After 5-8 hours working on the model shown above, I will be scraping it for spare parts  that I added which can also be used on the CEP models. I hope to use the CEP models as a basis for the improvements I want to do so we can all fly some swell F-35s.

(1) I'm not sure I want to open the can or worms that the B model would be.
(2) The A model is possibly my favorite so that is the one I'm for sure going to work on.
(3) This is mostly a side project so that I do not get board of the 747-8 project. I find that having a diversion every once in a while is great for staying motivated on the work I'm doing.

As a possible future F-35 driver, I'm very appreciative that you've taken on this project and I even saw that you made their (very weird looking) fuel tanks (that don't work yet. Go figure  ). Anyways, I'll be flying the piss out of these when you release them (like I'm not already with the 717, 767, and 787). Whether you make a C model or not, it would be very nice to see some upgrades and repaints from the CEP models. They are very . . . off-color.

In between these 2 Lightning II's,the outer look looks like decaff version more detail but I guess you can took CEP's F-35 internals as it haves animations like your Aggressor Hornets
and not forget on the exhaust animations..

Looks beautiful on the -8i.
I guess the engines probably taken from the previous 787 on new one...
hoping for Cargolux paint after develop the freighter version (Cutaway looks beautiful, though need someone on make the intricate decal :D ).
The question is,does it will be having wing flex too like 787?
I really want wingflex and tilt landing gear!

Final bits of work on the 747-8 animations. I will look to do initial test flights this weekend, using my old computer. For whatever reason, My new computer does not work with YSFlight, but Blender does!

The rear main landing gear now have the classic 747 steering which was one of the last things to be animated. I've been doing some planning for the cockpit, and I think that I can make a better overall aircraft if I leave the canopy opaque so that I can maximize the detail in the cockpit. The base model I'm working with has plenty of details I'd love to include for once, and With the 1.7mb dnm size of the main aircraft, this might be the project to go kinda crazy inside... :D

YSFlight is now working! I cobbled the TF58's dat file roughly towards the 747-8 performance and then hopped in for a test flight. Wheel positioning, smoke and viewpoints were all messed up, but I wanted to see the bird in the air!

Only two animation mistakes that I can see (cabin lights and inboard ailerons are moving with the gear).

Thanks to Pat, this guy is only at 1.7mb without a cockpit. When I add in the animated controls I bet I'm going to get up towards 2.3mb. Not bad for something this size and detail! :D

didn't believe and suprised that -B and -C variant uses gunpod while -A already equipped with the gun on the left above the engine intake... :D

maybe for the -A variant we could animate the gun lid with thrust reverser CLA.....

The Marines insisted (and rightly so) that they didn't want to fly an aircraft into battle without a working cannon (they are still having software problems with the internal cannon  )

Re: Decaff's Garage

Seeing the work done elsewhere on twitter has motivated me to try to make the 747-8 more accurate. I originally was going to just use the original Leading Edge Slats and just not move them into the right position for realism. However the more I've looked at the 747-8, the more I like the LES. Therefore I'm going in and editing their mesh and modifying the animations to be more realistic.

For the inboard LES I had to chop off 10% of their span in order to de-conflict with the engine while in reverse. I'm utilizing the Loop cut tool in blender to get an accurate and repeatable cut.

Image

Addiitionally I realized that looking at the wing from the wingtip while the wing is flexed, shows through the mesh in several places. I will be putting in some "blockers" to prevent that peep-hole effect of the wing-bend.

Making the Cockpit Windows more rounded like the actual 747-8. The model was not matching up well with the cockpit mesh and this was one of the main reasons it wasn't lining up.

The cockpit of the 747-8 is really complex. The model I'm working from has a lot of detail I've been trimming away and modifying to work in YSFlight. Here's the problem. What you are looking at there is 24k vertices. I've been working on trimming down and down and down, but there is still a lot of detail that I like. Perhaps an HD and non-HD cockpit is the way to go?

I think I'd appreciate even a lower detail cockpit, much like the ones in TF58's 747's that maybe will still have something on the displays. Maybe having both would be nice, but I don't think it would be a bad idea to take it down to the basics on that level of detail. I just think more of the focus will not be on the details of the cockpit since we can't really do much in YS.

Yes, as for me, HD models will cause old hardware. So midpoly models is preferable for both: good look and fast play.
