Cockpit is working great! All of the animations I've put in here are working properly which makes me really happy. On the Meldis Beta map, I'm getting 50-60 fps both inside and outside the cockpit! Wooo. The DNM is 2.2mb and the cockpit is ~650kb. Not too shabby. No spoilers for the animations as of now. You'll have to experience them first-hand!

Well it's about that time in the development process where the model is mature enough to be expanded beyond the base layout. Introducing the first flight of the 747-8F! There's still some wonkiness with the door animations, but I think I can get a handle on them with no trouble.

I'm especially proud of the side door animation for the loading personnel. It opens just like a real airplane's door would. (i.e. the door pops out and moves forward rather than rotating around a hinge like doors in buildings.) Simple in theory and I was able to get it to work in one try.

Perfection is his standard, he will accept nothing less from himself :). Like all the great modders around here.

Decaff. I'm so proud of you. Just 4 years ago you couldn't figure out how to make text in blender and now your making the largest aircraft made from Boeing from scratch. Decaff. Your one of my favorite. People on HQ. Thanks for the work.

Yes. Favoritism. Deal with it.

It's been a while, but I now have 4 paints for the 747-8 and I'm working on a fifth this week.

In other news, I've been working on a python code that will convert SRFs to a pc2/fld file. I'd like to be able to take a DNM file (just cause it's easy to look at the structure and stuff) and convert that to a series of .pc2 files for each SRF inside it. This way one could make map details in Blender and then convert them over to Scenery Editor. I think this would be useful for making more detailed curves and other airport features. You might even be able to make a map with it! It even carries over colors of each polygon and will put faces that are higher in the z-axis on top of those below it.

A slight break from the 747s. Working on the F-35 again. Still got some cockpit display work to do and then I'd like to see if I can update the pilot to include animations.

There's not a whole lot out there on the displays of the F-35, but I was able to piece together some things and took some elements from the original model's display. I'm trying to pack as many animations that I can think of into the display, but running into some issues with parent-child relationships. Its really ironic because earlier this week I was writing about them, saying how you have to be careful when setting them up. Then when I try to take a shortcut, BAM! they're all over the place. Oh well, I will have to dis-assemble them and try again.
