VNAF ONE Studios

Post by VNAF ONE » Thu Mar 31, 2011 9:42 pm

Welcome to my workshop. Here is where I will be posting my exclusive development updates. I normally do not release my work until it is finished or at least playable. Most of the time, I do my work in a certain order so it usually does not become playable until it is finished. Please feel free to check in here for updates and ask questions!

Here's what's in the works at the moment:

--COMPLETE!!!--North Las Vegas GET IT HERE!
-----This includes North Las Vegas Airport, Nellis AFB, and surrounding area. Thinking to include Creech AFB and a targeting range used in Operation Red Flag.
=====
--COMPLETE!!!--Indianapolis Regional Airport GET IT HERE!
-----Probably one of my more detailed projects, Indy Regional is home to the Indianapolis Air Show. This release features 3 different unique versions of this small but detailed world.
=====
--in progress--Volusia County, FL
------This map will include the best aviation school on the planet, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and all the airspace used to teach real life n00bs to fly airplanes. It will include the following airports to medium detail: KDAB, KEVB, KOMN, KDED, KFIN, KSGJ, KTIX, and possibly KSFB, KORL, and KMCO.
=====
--in progress--*Withheld* Pitohui
-----The intended purposes of this map are currently withheld but it will include beautiful scenery for all aspects of flying and full dynamic capability for server hosting.
=====
--in progress--Louisville Standiford International Airport
-----Home of United Parcel Service and the Thunder Over Louisville Air Show, KSDF needs a necessary upgrade to be put into the standing and currently obsolete Louisville map for YS. This project will fully detail KSDF in addition to other corresponding areas receiving attention from other scenery makers in YS.
=====
--on hold--Yemen Valley 3.0 Update
------Basically, everything but the base, civi airport, and target zones is getting a major overhaul. Also cleaning up a bit.
=====
--on hold--Vuelo Beach Map Expansion
-----Vuelo Beach will not be the only island in the sea anymore. I'm making 4 additional locations and adding Turbofan's Turbot Island to the collection. Adding some bases to include JB Kortana.
=====
--on hold--Greater Indianapolis Area, IN, United States
-----This is one for the hometown. Currently, I have 2/6 airports complete. Meant to be joined with Louisville and Evansville respectively. The major expansion is on hold until Indy is done.
=====
--on hold--Southeast Virginia, VA, United States
----- Includes several key US military installations such as NAS Oceana, JB Langley-Eustis, NAS Norfolk, and others
=====
--not started--Evansville, IN, United States
----- Evansville Freedom Festival and Air show (this one's for you Crow ;) )
=====
--not started--Everett-Paine Field, Everett, WA, United States
-----Hoping to get this started as a nice backdrop for new Boeing addon releases. Thinking it wouldn't be bad to come with a map of Boeing field as well.
====
--not started--Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia Beach, VA, United States
-----The East Coast home of naval air squadrons, Oceana is buzzing with many of the US Navy's warplanes and deserves recognition in the YS community. This project is a target for future work and may be moved up the list at the motivation of myself.

I'm always looking for new ideas and would love to do air show maps or maps just for recreation purposes. If you have any ideas real or imagination, post below or comment my work. I'll try to update whenever I can.

Cool! I'd come down for the air show first to scope out the place.

Ya I will. That's why it's holding off a bit.
UPDATE to Langley AFB map: I looked into the vicinity of Langley AFB and there's quite a bit around it. It seems there's a base fore every branch surrounding it (besides the USMC :( ). There's the famous Norfolk Naval base, a Coast Guard Base, and an Army airfield that can all be put into the same map with Langley. It depends. I might release one for airshows and one for recreation. Keep your eyes open on this one!

What an area I picked out :? . NAS Oceana is just close enough. I might as well do that too. ;)

I did not mean to imply my post as a request VNAF only that your studio idea made me happy.
We are having a scenery maker shortage at the moment and your post just bolstered my moral. :)

It's fine Gunny. Really I'm happy that everyone's excited about my work. It helps me and gives me a reason to continue. Actually Langley AFB itself is about 90% complete and I'm now working on the surrounding area and will shortly begin work on the next airport and the Naval Base at Norfolk.

Langley AFB: all that's left to do is vegetation, viewpoints, lights, and an ils or two.

More work on the map which now has expanded to NAS Oceana which is now 2/4 runways complete and miles and miles of beach and the ocean is currently being expanded so that you don't run into it's edge. I wish I could make it go out farther but YS will not let me make maps half land and half sea. I have to do it myself. Anyways these are just sandy beaches. Virginia beach will be done soon with a few waves to give it a very nice look :D .

I eagerly anticipate the release of this map, particularly now that you have included NAS Oceana. I've spent some time watching the jets there, and can't wait to fly around the area for myself.

Well I've gotten some of Oceana done so far. It's a difficult base to do because of all the tarmac and runway specifications but I got it as accurately as I can. It's coming very close.

I feel like some small sort of border is necessary around the base...just my 2 cents.

Border lines and I do't settle well. Instead I like to make scenery around an area cause it to pop out. I'm trying to input my artistic knowledge into map making basically. I used vegetation and roads around the base to make it pop out of the rest of the scenery so that it is even easy to pick out at a very long distance. Besides I really don't like wide open, empty spaces.

Oceana is done as well as Williamstown Intl.
