Dragonic Machine Industries.

Post by Dragon_Mech »

Hello folks and welcome to Dragonic Machine Industries!

Here i will be specializing in modifying and converting both civil and military aircraft for use in Close Air Support and Suppress/Destroy Enemy Air Defence roles.

for my first project, i decided to do a little work on decaff_42's F-20D:
F-20_CAS_WIP_2.jpg
i've added a rocket platform to the rear of the aircraft for 12 individual rockets and 2 missiles.
on the wings i've decided to go with the 4 pylon setup for AGMs and 500 pound bombs. on the underside of the fuselage there is a bomb rack for 6 250 pound bombs, but i may decide to do something crazy with it.
i made some custom drop tanks for the wing tip rails.
right now i'm trying to decide how i want my custom weapon SRFs to look. i may use one of my earlier SRFs for the AIM120s or AIM9s.
in my next post i should have some pictures of the tanks and weapon SRFs. :)

That looks like one mean airplane! The red-black and purple paint scheme is also really neat! :D

When fighter pilots see that mean machine to their six they'll be like "NOPE!"

Nice work! :)

i finished the weapon and drop tank skins last night and i made a modification to the bomb rail on the underside of the F-20D.
F-20_CAS_WEAPONS.jpg
in order from bottom left to upper right we have the AIM120, AIM9, AGM65, Rocket, 500lb bomb, 250lb bomb and in the front are the drop tanks for the wing tip hardpoints.
F-20_CAS.jpg
here is the modification i did to the bomb rail. i'm not sure if the rear hardpoints on the rail are a permanent addition though.
i'll be working in the DAT file for the next few days and then it's off to the bomb range for testing.

hi everyone.
i have finshed the last of the touch-ups on the F-20 D. i added text and a decal to the tail.
first_flight.jpg
i use a font called Dark Katarn for the text. the text reads "F-20D D.M.I" i took it out for its first flight late this morning and DARN it looked good :D .
i am stiil making paint tweeks to the weapon SRFs and to the rocket amounts. for now i have 6 pods pods of 5 rocket for a total of 60 rockets. also, the drop tanks are set to hold 500 pounds of fuel each. i hope to have a screenshot of the plane loaded with weapons later this week.

Love the way this project is going. It sounds like you are using an external font for your text? If so, please check out my suggestions for reducing vertex counts while still looking awesome when you use fonts. It can make your work shrinkwrapping them much easier!

yes i did. the Dark Katarn font is something i found 6 or 7 years ago on some small star wars fan site. i used the "convert triangles to quads" command to reduce the amount of faces in the text. and thanks for the direction to your help section..... but i already have that page bookmarked :D .

i got the weapon SRFs done alot sooner than i though i would.
f20d_loaded_01.jpg
f20d_loaded_02.jpg
the current (and most likely final) weapon load-out stands as follows:
cannons:
600 rounds of ammo
wings:
4x 500lb bombs or 4x AGM65
2x AIM120 or 2x Drop tanks with 500 lb of fuel each

rear weapons platform:
60x rockets spread over all 12 vertical hard-points
2x AIM9 expandable to 6x while loosing 20 rockets

Fuselage bomb rack:
9x 250lb bombs

i'm going to do more testing tomorrow and if all goes well, i will release it either wednesday or thursday. :)

Hello everyone :)
i started a new project a few days ago.
Bonanza_A36_rocket.jpg
Bonanza_A36_Gunner.jpg
these mods were inspired by Patrick31337's Bonanza A36 Skywolf (Real cool Pat 8-) ).
but instead of using the GAC model i used the CEP model. i have already made a rocket skin for the attacker version and i've made a few changes to the dat file as well. as soon as i figure out the final paint job for both versions i'll post some more photos as well as a complete list of changes to the dat files.

hi everybody. i think i have the paint schemes done for both of the A36s.
A36_attacker.jpg
A36_gunner.jpg
i also have almost finshed all of the work on the .dat files. here are the changes i've made so far:

increased the horsepower of the engine from 300 to 380. (both)
increased the max speed to 180kts (both)
increased the critical speed to 160kts (both)
added 2 cannons (750 Rnds for attacker, 2000 rnds for gunner)
added 10 rockets (attacker)
slowed cannon re-fire rate to 0.08 (both)
added drop tank with 222 pounds of fuel (both)
set crusing speed to 179kts

i'm going to do some more tests this weekend. if all goes well i will release these as a pack either monday or tuesday.

about 10 minutes ago i finshed a flight with the Bonanza A36 Gunner using the Guam to SoCal 2015 map. i flew the PHNL to LAX route with 100% fuel and the 222lb drop tank. the drop tank ran dry at 192.3nmi and the main fuel ran dry at 371.4nmi. this means the drop tank more than doubled the range of the A36. i am very pleased with this result. i'm going to continue with a few more experiments later (after i get some sleep  ) but so far i am very happy with how these aircraft have turned out :) .

i have finshed the two versions of the Bonanza A36 that i have been working on. you can find them here:

i'm not sure what my next project will be. i am playing around with an idea that involves the comet that's in Pat's NCA pack. but i will need some help to pull it off.

ok folks. here is my current project
XF-15ES.jpg
XF-15ES_cockpit_view.jpg
this is another modification of the OCP model of the F-15E Strike Eagle. not only have i added 4 giant cannons to the fuselage, i've also removed all of the missile and bomb hard points. i left the wing pylons on for droptanks but i made them very short to bring the tanks up close to the wings. i made the mistake of removing the conformal fuel tanks with knowing what they were. so i'll be adding them back as soon as i remove the rails and hardpoints. i'm also trying to how much fuel i should give the aircraft once i reattach the conformal tanks (wikipedia says each CTF holds 849 U.S Gallons but i don't know how to convert that number to tonnes) right now i have the main fuel load set at 6.1 tonne (same as the F-15C/D) and the droptanks are set to 600 pounds (wikipedia says the droptanks should hold 600 U.S Gallons of fuel but again, i don't know how to convert that number to tonnes). if someone can figure out my fuel issue i would be very grateful (they would also be mentioned in the credits).
that's it for now. :)

1 US Gallon is ~6.7 pounds of fuel. 2000 pounds to a ton.

600 gallons = 2 tons
854 gallons = 2.9 tons

with decaff_42's help, i have set the main fuel to 11.26 tons of fuel (6.1t internal + 5.16t CFTs). and the drop tanks have a whopping 4020 pounds of fuel a piece. this means i may have to increase the fuel usage to offset the large surplus of fuel. current fuel usage is .76kg at full military power and 7.6kg using afterburner.
i'm also trying to get the max speed @40,000 feet up to MACH 2.5+ with afterburner without raising the afterburner thrust higher than 40t, but i may try to make this a hypersonic aircraft  .
it may be some time before the XF-15ES is ready for release. i'll report more changes as they happen. :)

I think a guass cannon coming out under the nose (a la A-10) would look sick on the F-15
