Here is my WIP thread.... :P

Ok, I guess I shall use available resources for ground objects for version 1 of my next map.
Will see about making the ground objects in subsequent versions of the map. ;)

i have some guesses for your map:
New Delhu
Mumbai
Dhaka
Nepal
Bhutan
Maybe somewhere outside the indian subcontinent

So, from now on this thread will be frequently updated....i just completed getting through/getting a hang of blender (i guess) ;)

ok, now i was making SpiceJet Decal..... and encountered this problem:
why is there a different shading while i am making this decal? See difference between 'J' shading and 's' shading and 'i' shading???
also, why does 'p' type problem happen?? I mean not shaded face, although there are the edges...??

I believe it is something to do with the height variation of the vertices??
But, FYI, there are no differences between heights of these vertices! All the vertices lie in the same plane! :?:

This is due to the normals of the faces. Currently from that viewpoint, the letters i, e and j are visible in object mode but the other letters are not: they are visible on the other side. Fix this by selecting the faces of the 'invisible' letters and press W --> Flip normals.

Also, one more thing how are custom flare and weapons loaded?? (rg. decaff's flares, other custom weapons which rooted in user folder??)

how is the 'pick up colour' done in blender 2.4.......

google searches tell me to use the brush tool, but where is the brush tool??

generally for me when I want to obtain a colour already on the mesh I turn off my painting mask and right click on the colour that I want. This is a whole lot faster than going to the 'Sample' button.

How do i un-shrinkwrap in blender so as to get a text or a logo from another .blend file??

It would be somewhat difficult given that you don't have the original logo/text to begin with. The only way I know is to make the logo a separate object (if it isn't already). Then, depending on the orientation of the mesh, you would want to scale the mesh to 0 in the x-, y- or z-axis to "flatten" the mesh (press S >> X/Y/Z). You might want to scale the resultant 'flat' logo/text in the x-, y- or z-axis until you are happy with the proportions.

also, I'd think it would be best if you work in orthographic view.

Well, these are orthographic view, by the way :)

i understand about the un-shrinkwrapping thing...hmmm :|

1) TeamSpeak doesn't work when one flies in the sim?? Mine does not.... :(

How do you guys talk while flying? Do you use TeamSpeak Overlay???

2) How is splitting an existing polygon in YS Scenery Editor done, so as to get two different polygons? How is the split functions implemented??
