Python Scripts Error:Check Console

Post by Honey Badger » Tue Nov 15, 2011 7:35 pm

Hey guys. I got Blender 2.49b (finally) and installed the scripts by following the instructions included. I went to import a .dmn but when I clicked the .dmn option, nothing happened. I tried again and noticed a "Python scripts error: check console" window appeared every time I tried to import. I double checked installation and every thing seemed fine. I went to the small black window (assuming that was the "console") and saw the following repeated many times.

"Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<string>", line 1, in <module>
File "C:\Users\... ;) \Downloads\blender-2.49b-windows\blender-2.49b-windows\.blender\scripts\ysfs scripts\dmn_import.py", line 67, in <module>
From ysfsConfig import *
ImportError: No module named ysfsConfig"

Any help is much appreciated.

This error means you don't have the file ysfsConfig.py in C:\Users\... \Downloads\blender-2.49b-windows\blender-2.49b-windows\.blender\scripts\ysfs scripts\

That was self explanatory. I'll dig around and if I don't have it, could someone give it to me?

Edit: Found the file, re-installed, re-started blender, same error. Re-installed all the scripts, re-started blender, same error. Restarted blender and checked the console. "Blah-blah-blah...Checking for installed Python...No installed Python found...Blah-blah-blah...Some scripts may not run". I assume this means I need to find Python 2.6. Blender came with Python26 so I assumed that was it. I'll install Python 2.6 and then update this post to let you know if I fixed it.

Edit2: Got Python 2.6.7 and extracted. Now what the hell do I do with it?

Install it.

By the way, which OS are you using? Vista or Seven?

Did you download the source tarball of Python 2.6.7?? (http://www.python.org/download/releases/2.6.7/)

Rather take python 2.6.6 (and choose the msi installer)
http://www.python.org/download/releases/2.6.6/

That's what I get. So if I follow the things aragorn15 does. Mine should work aswell.

Alright Vince. Python installed and blender recognizes it. Now to solve that missing file problem. I have it installed but now I think that my download may be corrupted. Re-downloading as I type.

Update: Followed the same steps to install the files and still got the error. I'm nearly stumped. I'll double check the map to make sure it's right.

Update 2: Can't find the proper map for that file. Any help is much appreciated. (Has anyone every had this much trouble before???)

Open the command line (in accessories/System Tools or type cmd in the search field)

makes sure Python2.6 is in the env PATH

got to the folder Users\... \Downloads\blender-2.49b-windows\blender-2.49b-windows\.blender\scripts\ysfs scripts\
using the cd command,
(I think that if you can drag and drop the directory from Explorer it puts you in the wanted directory)
launch python by typing python

try the following command and give me its output:
from ysfsConfig import *

----------------------

If the method is too much technical, I'll make you a script this week-end (you'll just need to run the script) to diagnose the problem.

I'm thought I was good at "geek speak", but that was a little much. However, my Mother is IT certified. She attended WGU and should be able to help here. The drawback is that she won't be home for the afternoon so it'll have to wait. Thanks for the help.

Going to have to try the comand thing. FINALY got Blender working. :D Loaded ysfs scripts, but can't get them to work. :x

Get this ... In BPY_calc_importloader<name=c:documents and settings\owner\desktop\blender2.49b-windows\.blend\scripts\ysfsscripts\lib_ysfs\tex\za01.png > (Or what ever the code I put in.) When trying to get an aircraft to load.
Or the same but with <..\scripts\ysfsConfig.py> If I try the configure.

I made some tests with Windows 7 (I boot on Windows once a month) and I noticed that the instructions I had written two years ago had to be updated.
1) Get the installer of Blender 2.49 here
http://download.blender.org/release/Ble ... indows.exe
and install it
(note: if you don't use the setup version, the instructions below are not valid)

2) Get the msi installer of Python 2.6 here
http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.6/python-2.6.msi (32 bits version)
http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.6/py ... .amd64.msi (64 bits version)
and install it
(note: if you don't use the setup version, the instructions below are not valid)

3) Enable Windows File Manager to display the hidden files/folders
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutoria ... windows-7/

4) Download the ysfs Blender scripts here
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ysfsblender/
and extract all the files

5) Among the extracted files, you see "install.html" and a folder "ysfs scripts"
Copy all the files/folders inside "ysfs scripts" (ie lib_ysfs, best_camera_position.py, chza.py, ... ) in the directory : C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts
If you don't see this folder, it means you don't have Windows 7 or you didn't chose the setup version of Blender.

6) Run Blender !

Tell me if these new instructions work.

I tried it and still couldn't get it to work. This is super frustrating. I must be cursed or something.

1) Please, download ysDiagnose.py here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/ysfsblender/files/

2) Move this script with the other Python files.
3) Launch Blender
4) Go into the script Window
5) From the "Script" menu, launch System/YS Scripts Diagnostic
6) copy paste (or print-screen) the console output

I should be able to see something like
------------------ DEBUG START--------------------
Debug information
------------------ DEBUG END--------------------

This is what I saw when I ran your script. I never got the "Debug End" like you said I should. However my own interpretation is that my copy of blender is FUBAR.

Edit: The line in red is just plain funny. I highlighted it to point it out.

Vincent, as I'm still having problems with the ysfs scripts. Here is some info about my computer.

O.S. Windows XP.

I can get a 'box' like the 'console' one to come up.
This has Python (comand line) as it's name.
Puting in "from ysfsConfig import*" (without quotes.) Gives the following responce..
Traceback <most recent call last>
File"<stdn>", line1,in <module> Import Error: no module named ysfsConfig

So is that any help, for sorting out my problems?

As I use a library computer, it'll be a few days before I get back to you. After trying anything out.
