mofu you have just given me a reason to keep working on the FRX. i had an idea with the X-02 to add a COFFIN, multi purpose burst missiles, and the TLS pod from the morgan. now that i think about it adding something like that to the FRX would save my butt because the cockpit is throwing rocks at me.
just converted an HD model of the FRX from Strike Fighters 2 into YS, had an epic (I hope) idea regarding the limitations of ysflight's hardpoints. since they can't be animated and the FRX's wings move in all kinds of directions that knocks normal hardpoints out. now i can just add the missile srf's to the model and have them attached to the wings but what fun is that when you fire all your missiles and they still appear? that's when it hit, four SMC-01's modified to be carried on both sides of the wings. since the missiles would be held in the weapons bays themselves that eliminates that annoying issue. plus now they can animate when the doors are open and they can flip around to keep facing forward when the wings rotate 180 degrees backwards. it's an idea i thought of when thinking of VFA-49's planes. plus that with an internal bay between the engines and boom you got a stealth version of Yukikaze, as if the things wasn't badass as it is
So a bit of news on the FRX, which was re-christened the ADFX-102, pylons were added above the engine nacelles, the weapons pod idea for the wing hardpoints was alright but instead I added twin ECM pods, underwing hardpoints were added so it can carry a modified AIM-54 Phoeinix long range missile. The cockpit is finished and it uses a lot of COFFIN technology to improve pilot situational awareness.
so with Decaff's work on the F-35 i noticed how nobody seems to be touching the F-22 Raptor, namely the cockpit.
so with my recent project to build one of my favorite Vector Thrust planes in ys i've given the cockpit a bit of a needed touch-up
of course there's still quite a ways to go to get the cockpit to at least 80% of the actual Raptor. I'm also going to release a separate pack with a number of repaints, say F-35 style among others. So any requests are open.
In a combined effort with the General Resource Defense Force, VFA-121 has begun construction of the first F/A-22SMT Advanced Raptor. Using an advanced Aero COFFIN system to provide maximum pilot visibility with the proven design enhancements of the F/A-22V Velociraptor.
This has been an Osean Broadcasting Center Production.
since the nose isn't working to my liking on the IFX-35F i went ahead and took a few images from the D model to try and build a more accurate model of the plane..not XD. this way i can have just a more accurate nose and tail, since i really don't feel like doing all this from scratch with images that hardly match 100%.
