Hawaiian 767 landing. Taken on the Civ Av server during ATC event. My name was very appropriate  Image

Here is a spotlight mounted to a trailer, capable of tracking aircraft. The light beam is 20 meters long (to avoid hitting other objects or aircraft, I thought that was a good length to represent it). The shadow is disabled in the .dat file, so I made a shadow into the .srf for the trailer.

Nice screen shots guys from the ATC event today. I had no idea there was an ATC event today (though the sudden spike in total users on the civav had me wondering), but in a sense that's a good thing because I had plenty of work to do in the yard . Anyway, looks like you had a lot of fun and I look forward to the next event!

I think it was spontaneous. You have to keep watch because you never know when it will happen next.:)

Wouldn't a small collision file prevent the beam from destroying things?

Yes, but it passing through the side of an elevation grid would look strange.

So RandomFlyer, Greenhorn and I set off on a flight from Everett Municipal Airport to Murfreesboro Municipal in TN on the civav. I flew the NCA Super Kingair 200, GH flew the Northwest Airlink Saab 340B and RF joined in with the BA 777-200ER. With both airports having basically N-S runways and the wind being 090 degrees at 9 kt, both, the takeoff and the landing (including the final approach) were rather interesting, especially for those flying small turboprops. Here are a couple of screen shots.
The Murfreesboro Airport in its entirety. Note the BA 772ER.

Pretty comical how small the Kingair looks from this angle.
