I was thinking of using Joystick to play YSflight, but seeing the prices scared me.
What do you think I should do?
I keep the mouse or finally I buy the joystick. I do not know if it's worth it, I do not know if it's better or if it suits me for comfort when it comes to flying, I need your immediate help!

You can usually find them in thrift shops. That's where I got mine.
And you should be able to use ps3/ps4 Xbox one/360 controllers too!

I feel joysticks are 100% better than using a mouse. You have so much more control when flying with a 'stick compared to a mouse. Especially if you're into dogfighting, a joystick is the only way to go.
You can't put a price on fun, right?!

Haw-Haw
Bad thing as well using the mouse is when you want to chat on F12... a lot of times i lost the control because of this, especially on the approach and climb.
I tried to setup a PS3 controller to be used on YSFlight, but i need to check it again soon. Worked great on other games using the Xbox control driver.

I use an optical mouse to do all of my flying, and keep the text chat to very short messages during takeoff/climbout/approach/landing. Works pretty good for my purposes which is general civ/commercial flying.
I agree though that if you're more into combat flying , then a joystick would be the way to go, a mouse is not going to cut it for combat.

I got pretty good at dogfighting with just the mouse. A joystick gives you a lot more control and without having to turn your left hand into a spider to hit all the keys, but it's not required. It is more fun though.

I mean, you can get a lot more control from a joystick, but if you would want to go pick one up, go with the classic Logitech extreme 3d pro, they sell from 10 to 20 USD on amazon, you could find it cheaper at a yard sale or thrift shop. But I would highly recommend a joystick.

^ Does that joystick have a USB port by any chance?
Anyone know where I could find a joystick with a USB port for under $15 USD (Other than the above)?
I still use my keyboard for joystick controls and have a Mac therefore only able to use USB joystick. Yokes are too expensive and take up a lot of space.

I would highly advise you to go for something in the 30-40 dollar range as the cheaper they get the less quality you get in the product. Thrustmaster does some good HOTAS setups that are around 30 dollars and some other brands offer good sticks in this range too.

Just looking for something basic as 30US=50NZ. I have a very low budget.

The 3D Pro does come with a USB port. It was able to withstand several years of heavy dogfighting usage from me. Recently one of the buttons bottoms don't register anymore, so I decided to upgrade to a HOTAS. All of the joysticks that I have used connected to the computer via USB. I would imagine that it is industry standard for joysticks.

I've got a logitech 3D pro and it has stood up to years of work, but I doubt I pew pew as much as doom
It has a single USB connection that I've used on a USB 2.0 Hub for years. It was literally the only think I asked for Christmas a few year back and since I take care of it (store it in a box when moving, etc) it has lasted extremely well.
Doesn't have the bells and whistles that some more expensive/realistic joysticks have, but it has plenty for YSFlight

My 3D Pro started having axis issues around 9 months, but that was back when I was flying the most heavily. It's a great stick to start with though, and you really don't need any more buttons than that for YS.
