So I just finished watching Apocalypse Now Redux...the whole 3 hours of it...in one sitting...

I think I need some time to recuperate my feelings.

That urbanite who you think just tried to "axe" you a question was actually going to "aks" you a question, which is a word meaning "to inquire" that came to the United States along side the more common word "ask" in the early settlement of the North American colonies.

Here's a thought for the day: If you are concerned with kids not learning to write in cursive because they might not be able to read old documents, maybe you should send a letter to your member of Congrefs. That is spelled correctly.

Some of you might have heard about a kid who got lost while on a walk in the woods with his sister and grandmother. They found his body today, a week later. I've heard some really ignorant and typically-21st-Century-bozo statements lately. People have questioned why the grandmother would take a 2-year-old for a walk in such a place. Nancy Grace, a TV host, even speculated that bears that live in the mountains might have killed him. There are no wild bears or mountains in West Tennessee, but sure, kids shouldn't play outside because bears.

When I was 2-years-old, I went walking in the woods with my grandparents all the time. Once I rode on the back of a trailer pulled by my Grandpa's tractor into the woods to watch him cut trees for firewood. Sure, I could have ended up lost in the weeds or bit by a snake or who knows what. It's called life.

Thought of the day: Sometimes bad things happen to little children, but that's no excuse to wrap the other children with bubble wrap and try to protect them from life. Kids should dig in the dirt with their hands, chase chickens around the yard, and walk through the woods. Most of them will not only survive, they will be stronger and healthier for it.

I was just looking at a list of 25 things "men will never understand." I really didn't understand most of them, but I was left with one question, and a thought of the day:

Why would anyone, women or otherwise, care about the appearance of their underwear (on an average day, at least). I mean, are these people with fancy underpants wanting to look good for the weird guy who installed a hidden camera under the toilet?

@Patrick

Being a guy, I've never stopped to think about what color/style my underwear I'd put on. Let alone looked straight into the mirror, naked and exposed to the elements barring me undies, saying "Hmmm, if someone sees this would it make a good impression on them?"

Then again, I'm no female. Such is life.

TOTD: Man, I've been missing a lot these past weeks. Screencap competitions, spewing out nonsense with friends, finishing that December edition of Nat Geo Magazine, dicking around with me friends...

Maybe put up a post on the HQ FB page. Resuming my weekly jogs in the evenings. Oh, and most of all, making nonsense and incomprehensible **** with me mateys!
Yarrrr!!!!
Having to go to the workshop and hangar daily sure does take a lot out of you. Most of the free time I got was spent on either sleeping or Wargame-ing (I like games with deep mechanics). Hopefully, this feeling will wither away and I'll be able to enjoy flying around in YS soon. A brief brake should do it.

Ms Jane Not Fonda and her supporters:
I can not express to you the width and depth of my disdain for this female or the disdain I have for our so called President. They are birds of a feather[A white feather.] and for all those who support there disrespect and none elegance to the country that gave them so much to be grateful for.And all they want to do is dismantle it from the Presidency on down to reflect there twisted image of the perfect society.A socialist and dictatorial society of whom they and there kind would be the prime beneficiary's.Well read this well and true. You will be long dead and forgotten before that will ever come to pass.Just written names on a headstone in some cemetery as many other enemies of our country are now foreign and domestic.Rest in perpetual anguish.
End rant.

I'm almost sure I've seen that rant before. Jane Fonda committed treason in the sense that here activities in North Vietnam fit perfectly the definition of treason in Article III of the US Constitution.

Thought of the day: If you are thinking about levying war against the united States, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort, you should probably think differently.

TOTD two for one special!

Python is such a wonderful programming language. After spending all day in Matlab, I was able to replicate 90% of the functionality with about 30 minutes of work. (After my company randomly decided python was a security threat after 2+ years of daily use by my team...stupid corporate IT   Thank goodness for local IT to get python up and running again. Good IT is worth their weight in gold.)

Another TOTD: Don't reply all to a company-wide email saying to stop replying all. Not only will you end up creating havoc, you will stop any and all productivity for half a day as the email servers attempt to send 5 million emails in 10 minutes. It takes more than 10 minutes...try 4 hours to complete sending all the emails.

Thought of the day: that moment when you realize the building's swaying and it's not you feeling dizzy.

Thank you to the engineers who factor in 50+ mph gusts when calculating load bearing, much appreciated.

To those of you under 20: You cannot be anything you want. I'm sorry to tell you, but if you didn't have all A's in high school, you're not going to be a doctor or lawyer. If you can't bother to do your homework, you're probably not going to be able to hold down even the lowest-skilled job. Good luck.

By all means try, but believe me, it's more effort than you think.

I've just done the math and if both my wife and I got full time work right now, we could own outright our own house in 5 years. I've only been able to work this out through careful budgeting.

If I could offer any advice, is to always have a contingency plan. I didn't have one and it wasted 7 years of my life.

----

I would much rather the drunken wedding party guests that stay at my hotel instead return to my hotel high, rolling or tripping. Drunk people do stupid things. Psyched out people actively try and avoid doing stupid things.

Thought of the day: Good thing come after bad :)
The A380 is ahead of its time. With the resilient passenger traffic growth for times to come (reference from Airbus's Global Market Forecast), plus congested airports, the A380 could not be ignored.

Man revives according to what he carries of thought about man, life and the universe, and about their relationship, as a whole, with what preceded this life and what comes after it. Hence, in order for man to revive, it is necessary to radically and comprehensively change his current thought and generate another thought for him.
