Monarch Airlines ceased operation

Post by Richard Vo »

So I think some of you may have heard about this sad new, but it just happened today :(
RIP Monarch Airlines

The A380 is ahead of its time. With the resilient passenger traffic growth for times to come (reference from Airbus's Global Market Forecast), plus congested airports, the A380 could not be ignored.

Such a shame, it was a great airline.

Said in one of today's UK papers, that Ryanair would be looking at getting as many pilot's from them, if they went bust. To help them with thier own problem.
Fliped out of the arena, again! :(

It will take too long for the pilots to solve the Ryanair problems. Different type ratings

Hate to hear news like this. I loved monarch personally. Here's a few photos I took last time I traveled with them. Will be missed greatly

I had heard this airline was not doing well. Great livery, something unique in these times. Hopefully all the employees will get jobs elsewhere soon.

It was quite out of the Blue as the only problem we seemed to know of was their Package Holiday licence from the CAA

I think I saw a few posts on airliners.net or FlyerTalk that Monarch was in the red. Can't remember when exactly I saw this but it wasn't too long ago.

What my main hope now is that the government gets to sell off the assets due to funding the rescue flights at a huge expense

Yeah tfan, monarch was having some issues last year if I recall and was backed by some bigger names who payed in to keep them going, looks like it's time finally came though. Honestly a brilliant airline. Don't think I could ever fault them. Gonna be sad not seeing their iconic purple and yellow filling the skies

Sad news, I had the chance to fly this airline when I went to the UK a few years ago, but we had to switch to easyjet last minute :(
