Weather In Your Area 2020
So far the new year has been on the mild side, we've had several systems come through and made January one of our wettest on record. Typically, Jan is our driest month. So the rain is always welcome this time of year.
It's also been quite mild, temps on avg 5-10 degrees higher than seasonal averages. On Saturday, the high temp was 76F, yesterday it was about 70F, but now it's back to reality. A cold front came through late on Monday and sent the temperature plunging into the 40s by late in the evening. Today, cloudy and the temp barely climbed from 34F in the morning to 37F in the afternoon. Tomorrow: expecting a wide area of 4-6 inches of snow. It will last only one day but roads will probably not recover until Thursday afternoon, especially if the higher totals verify. Should be the most snow we've had in about 2 years at least.

Re: Weather In Your Area 2020
Dozens of accidents and lengthy delays though, no shock there. I'm glad I work in the IT industry and can work from home if need be (like today) . Currently a temperature of 29F and the sun's already coming out, so some melting will take place, but the overnight low is forecast to be around 20F so any water on area roads will re-freeze in the morning. High on Sunday will be back in the mid-upper 50s.

Sounds a bit like western Washington! Haha. We're now having some severe flooding in the Snohomish Valley and into the Cascade Mountains. A few days ago we were getting light snow flurries, now we're getting full-on flooding lol.

Re: Weather In Your Area 2020
Over here, not a bad day save for the winds from the NW at 20-30 mph with some higher gusts. Temp made it into the upper 60s, tomorrow very nice with much lighter winds and upper 60s-low 70s. Rain comes back on Monday though.

Spring is definitely here.Neocon wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 3:31 am The storm hit here about 9 PM. The wind was strong, close lightning, then it was gone as fast as it appeared. Maybe 15 minutes, 25 at the most, from first sounds of thunder to realizing I hadn't heard thunder in a while. It went north and south of us, as storms usually do because of the hills to the west.

Re: Weather In Your Area 2020
We're expecting some severe weather ourselves here in the Sooner state tomorrow with a cold front passing through. Again with the chance of damaging hail and winds. Hail has been the real threat for us as of late, seems every major storm has been dumping large chunks of ice this Spring season.

Re: Weather In Your Area 2020
Thankfully missed us but unfortunately did fall and cause damage about 5-6 miles to our east, continuing to our SE then S as a powerful supercell tracked on south. I was watching a line of cumulus that went from nothing to a bonafide storm with tops exceeding 50,000 feet in less than 30 minutes. Formed almost right overhead before it started putting down baseball and some softball size hail, like I said just missing us (we got some pea-size and a bit larger but that was about it).
Temps were in the low 90s today and dewpoints in the upper 60s, a perfect combination for explosive storm development. There was a layer of warm air about 4,000-5,000 feet up, but it didn't take long for that "cap" to break as a cold front came through and provided just enough lift for rapid storm firing.

Currently 80F with a dewpoint of 74F. Yeah, the Gulf atmosphere basically migrated here .

Re: Weather In Your Area 2020
Today we were expecting severe weather and that did materialize, numerous reports of hail and wind, though thankfully we just got some wind. But boy did the rain come down in buckets, got over 3 inches so far, and more rain is on the way tomorrow night. Plus continuing chances for rain iover the next 3-4 days. Should keep the high temps in check but will feel humid no doubt. Still, any rain we get this time of year is a winner, so can't complain.

Re: Weather In Your Area 2020
High temps will continue to be below average but in the low 80s for much of next week. Not too bad, but I prefer it to be slightly warmer, oh well, can't complain too much.
