Something that caught my eye in Decaff's site

Post by impaulready6418 »

I was going around decaff's site looking for some interesting addons I could download and I came across his flightlogs, I was curious and decided to look into his flights until i saw the maps "North Lite" and "USA Lite" in some of the flights he's flew, this caught my attention because in one "North Lite" flight he flew, it was a John F. Kennedy to Heathrow route, I've never seen or found a map that had that route before or even knew about it until now, and when I scrolled down further there was a Heathrow to Anchorage route in the North Lite map, Anchorage to Miami in the USA Lite map, and even Manila to Honolulu route in North Lite, is this a personal map? or is it a map that has been lost in time? im guessing it was lost in time because the flight was taken in 2015-2016, and finally the last question, if its not a personal map, can someone give me the link or the file for it, it looks really interesting and makes me, a person who likes long range flying, really feel the long-range flying experience, thanks!

Is USA Lite part of my USA48 map, or maybe Decaff made some compilation maps of his own?

It could may be a personal map, but he could also be "stitching" trips together.

By stitching, i mean that you start from one scenery, then move to the other as if you "traveled" to the other. iirc, i saw a post about that. Figured this information could help. :D

If not that, its probably the GuamToSoCal map by Neocon

Yeah he probably did the old 2 maps one flight trick, I also do that with how I did a JFK-LHR a few days ago, just something I got interested of because I never seen that route with only one map before, thanks for replying though! :D

I have a few personal maps I have edited together from several other folks maps. But that is perfectly fine as long as I do not try to release them to the community at large without getting the original creators permissions first. For instance I added to PNMVs WESPACs, Taiwan and The Philippines. I also created a La Guardia to UK map, heavily edited PNMVs North Caribbean. West Virginia to NY, AKA ,Syracuse that now encompasses much of NY, some of Pennsylvania and NJ. But I have no intention of releasing any of them since I did not seek permission to do that, and beside I doubt that most will have the necessary ground packs to support all of them. BTW they all flow well on my new Windows 10 machine.

I always stuck with the 2009 version because it was compatible with most of the versions of YS in common use. I also preferred the user interface to the newer style.

I concur with Neocon. 2009 is the way to go, also the learning curve is shorter than newer releases.

It's always good to have 2018 on hand in case you need to do quick edits of post-2014 maps. I do all my work in 2009 as well, though

It was a massive stitch together of just the airports (not the rest of the maps) into something that stretched from hawaii to Heathrow.
