YS Micro-Challenges

Post by HawkbitAlpha »

For once, I've decided to come to HQ for help on making a Youtube video!

Last night, I watched by Nerdcubed that was a marathon of "micro-challenges" done in GTA V. In it, he takes a collection of challenges which can be done in a minute or two, and attempts them. This got me thinking: what would it be like to try and do a YS version of this?
This is where this thread comes in: I'm asking all of you to come up with offline YS-based challenges (yes, offline) in this same format. That is, fun things to try and accomplish that could be attempted in just a couple of minutes. Regardless of whether I succeed or fail at doing them, I'll try these in a single take, and make the end result into a video! Also, if not enough people respond o̶r̶ ̶i̶f̶ ̶a̶n̶y̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶s̶u̶g̶g̶e̶s̶t̶i̶o̶n̶s̶ ̶a̶r̶e̶ ̶t̶o̶o̶ ̶s̶i̶l̶l̶y̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶/̶o̶r̶ ̶e̶a̶s̶y̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶m̶e̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶b̶o̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ ̶w̶i̶t̶h̶, I'll just try and make up my own challenges.

That challenge is even less "micro" than the Nintendo 3DS is 3D. Next!

Send an airliner through the toothpaste tunnel. I don't even know if it has the pitch rate, or even the wingspan, but it would be fun to try

Speaking of vertical wind, there are actually a few maps that have a set vertical "wind", Misawa Glider comes to mind.

Ha I gave that a go once. It'll fit - just - if you go the 737, but she hasn't got the thrust for the vertical sections.

You can do this with any map, by adding a "mission" file to the end of the LST definition (see SMALL_MAP). What's cool about the .yfs file is you can set environment parameters, such as fog, or wind, and even in the vertical direction.

My Challenge:

Create a custom map/mission file to do a base leg approach to a carrier, at night, in maximum fog, in a 30 knot cross wind. You will need ILS.
I am an accountant working full-time (and some). I'm not here as often as I would like to be. Send a message if you need me. There are a few people in the community who can get in contact with me urgently if you need - don't be afraid to ask. I just don't check here as frequently as I used to. Sorry!
