In preparation for next year's WW2 RvB event, I've been developing a radar using animations. It uses the thrust vector buttons to set aircraft altitude to properly calibrate range, and a whole bunch of turrets to do the actual tracking.

I have completed the radar system. It can distinguish targets with a separation greater than 3.75 degrees, and can track up to 24 targets if perfectly spaced. On the left is the radar view from the nose showing a 45deg cone around the centerline of the aircraft. The righthand scope is a top-down view from 45deg left to 45deg right and a maximum range of 18 miles from 20,000ft, with an altitude calibration. Altitude is set with thrust vector keys, and night mode is on bomb bay animation.

My current estimate is 11k faces for all the glass displays. I think the rest of the cockpit is floating around 10k too

Switched from one ridiculously detailed project to another. Decaff needs a J75, so I set to working on a J79 by accident.

Casually adding 28000 faces to the stock Phantom

Doing some multiaxis animation

Better colours, more blending

Internal paint and better weathering

It's sitting at 15000 faces right now, and that's probably where it'll stay

Does the OLS work with all of the different ysflight renderers?

Yes! Unsure how easy it is to see at long range in OGL2 because of the light sprite fade, but because it uses the tracker mechanic and not a quirk of rendering order, it's solid in all versions. The downside is it tracks the glideslope of the nearest aircraft, so won't work if someone's on the deck. The PLAAT doesn't really have an alternative, but the OLS could be switched over to a different IFF turret system instead, which would limit it to a specific tracking cone and solve that issue, until someone picks the same IFF as the OLS
