How long are your load times?

Post by Bear » Tue May 11, 2021 7:41 pm

I have a lot of addons. My load times are between 6 and 9 minutes when I open it for the first time of the day. They're a bit shorter if I've closed it and then open it again later. Does someone else have similar load times?
I knew that they were hostile, but I couldn't take the chance
So I flipped the switch to outboard and said "Boys, it's time to dance"

And they asked me "Where ya goin'?" as I started to diverge
Said "I've had enough of this shit, man, I'm goin' to the merge"

'Cause BVR is great but now it's time to have some fun
So Darkstar, Judy Judy, I'm goin' in for guns

I definitely notice the shorter load time on re-opening YSFlight, but I've never had a YSFlight build that takes that long to load. how many Gb is your YSFlight install?

Load times depend on your CPU, your hard drive, the .exe you use, your build size, and whether you loaded it recently.

D3d loads faster than OGL1 or OGL2. An SSD loads faster than an HDD, especially if your disk is busy doing other things or if your CPU is under load. YS loads data into RAM, so if you reopen the game while the files are still in RAM, it can pull the files faster than on first start.

That being said, my 12GB build loads in 17 seconds in OGL1 and 3 seconds in D3d on mid-tier modern hardware.

11GB build here, on a fresh startup, d3d9 it takes about 41 seconds but usually peaks around sub-30 seconds when reopening.

I have an SSD so its not as bad with an HDD back then, but even with an HDD, it usually doesnt take me more than 2 minutes to load everything.

Logging on to 187 tho... thats a whole different story :?
