How to edit a vertex?

Post by Strava » Tue Jan 04, 2022 6:22 pm

I have been away from YSF for a few years and I seem to have forgotten a few things...

Is there a way to edit or at least view the XYZ values for any of the following:

A rectangle, rectangular region, or point array?

I would like to add lights to a runway and I remember being able to get it's exact vert XYZs but I can't seem to do that now.

Map > Make multi-coordinate input from... has a set of options. Selected polygon step by step has never worked for me in any scenedit version, and doesn't work on rectregions or point arrays. You can approximate a point array path with center of thick line or even/odd steps, but the original input coordinates are forgotten as soon as the point array is finalized (and it's saved in the .fld as individual light locations)

The best way for rectangles/rectregions is to just zoom all the way in on the corners and put down a point. Point arrays you're kind of screwed for precise replication (because the input vertices aren't there to reference off of after the fact)

The last thing you can do, if you need exactly the same points, is export the element (File > Export > Current item) and pull the coordinates from the output file

Thanks for the ideas.
I tried exporting the item. The rectangle for the runway was easy to find. It's the only grey item.
It's verts are at +/-15 x +/-600. So, lined up with the grid and at 0,0,0.
This is how it was created.
I assumed there would be offset and rotation info the the .fld file but,
I can find this groups of items but not any location/rotation info.

Oh well. I can work it out from there.

The rotation is defined by the map frame (pink rectangle around your elements) or child scenery (brown rectangle). If you've not rotated that, then you don't have to factor it in
