Landing on water!

Post by koshyajit »

September 28, 2022

Dear fellow YS Aviators/Designers;
Is there a way to design a water-runway to where we can land on it with just our pontoons??

As of right now, we can obviously create a water-runway by simply placing a "Runway" Rect. Region over water and demarcating it with runway lights of some sort. But, when you land on such a runway, you cannot land on just your pontoons -- you end up crashing!! You have to land with your gear down like on a regular runway on land. :(

So, is there a way to overcome this problem (in Scenery Editor) and create a water-runway where we can land (more realistically) with just our pontoons?

Thank you all, in advance for any help or editing tips and tricks in this area.
Sincerely,
John Yohannan

Okay, so when we land in amphibious craft, we still have to have our terrestrial gear down -- aka wheels?? :( :(

Yeah. You can make an aircraft where the gear animation is set to bomb bay, and the aircraft doesn't have a retractable gear in the .dat, so it'll look right. You can edit existing aircraft in Notepad by changing anything on CLA 0 with STA more than 0 to CLA 9

You'll need to edit the .dnm for the visual stuff, and the .dat to remove the gear functionality, which isn't a necessary change
