YSFHQ Addon Preservation Project

Post by HawkbitAlpha »

Hello one, hello all! Yours truly has just been promoted to resident forum tamper monkey, and with it, I'm officially beginning work on the Addon Preservation Project, a comprehensive effort to archive and secure as much as we can of the YS community's two decades worth of addons. This will work in tandem with the quasi-search engine that is the Addon Database, as we meticulously pick through YSFHQ's long history of releases, and not only restore many to public availability, but standardize and bugfix others for quality-of-life improvement.

However, we can't do this alone. For those of you reading, I'm asking for your help in the following:
  • If an addon is missing, report it in the dead link request thread. If we're able to track down a surviving copy of the missing addon, we'll reupload it with three new download mirrors for redundancy.
  • If an addon is broken (causes errors), report it in the Mod Repair Pack thread. If it's hosted on YSFHQ or one of its mirrors (rather than the creator's own external site), we'll upload a new version with as many bugs resolved as possible.
  • If an addon hosted on YSFHQ or an official mirror is poorly formatted (for example, missing the aircraft-user folder structure), also report it in the Mod Repair Pack thread. We can resolve this by uploading a new, standardized package to replace it.
Expect to see some cleaning up in old addon release and feature threads very soon.

To add to the request, if the dead link is in the Addon Database, please indicate the Pack ID Number!

Could I ask what are the hidden old sheets in Addon Database? Is that just older pack versions because when I do a search it frequently brings up names from the hidden sheets.

The old database is just a previous version with nearly the same data, organized a little differently. You can ignore it
