seems you were heard. I was in Fairfax for work yesterday and it was pouring.

We're expecting some pretty extreme weather this weekend due to the incoming Hurricane. I'll be interested to see what its like and will try to get some pictures to share here later.

If Bombcat and I are missing its most likely a power outage

The rain yesterday was from the fronts that keep coming through. Irene is still a day or two away.

I have a feeling this hurricane is not going to be nearly as bad as people are making it out to be.

Tropical cyclones of Category 3 and higher are described as major hurricanes in the Atlantic or Eastern Pacific basins. These storms can cause some structural damage to small residences and utility buildings, particularly those of wood frame or manufactured materials with minor curtainwall failures. Buildings that lack a solid foundation, such as mobile homes, are usually destroyed, and gable-end roofs are peeled off. Manufactured homes usually sustain severe and irreparable damage. Flooding near the coast destroys smaller structures, while larger structures are struck by floating debris. Additionally, terrain may be flooded well inland. Near-total to total power loss is likely for up to several weeks and water will likely also be lost.* Winds are from 111-130 m/h.

Yes, in case anyone thought I meant we were having a hurricane already we were just having rain. And I blame halb for saying he wanted it.

I'm glad someone else reads reddit.

I'm not worried: have the generator and gas and water and batteries...

That's usually the case. I see all purple links, close the tab, then impulsively reopen a reddit tab, then go "well, let's scroll further down... past 300 this time".

Only thing I've done to prepare is charge all my electronic devises in case of a power outage. I do have tons of batteries though.

I hope your power is back soon. We didn't have any trouble but a couple of blocks from us it seems many people lost power.
