Does anyone know where i can find some boats to replace the default carriers, and/or the destroyers?

That is unadvisable.

Rather, download more maps/ground objects. TF58 has a great carrier.

OK, thanks. it was just kinda throwing the whole mood off, taking off in a highly detailed plane on a low detailed carrier. oh and btw, are you forum-stalking me? because you've posted alot on my posts

No, because it would be negated by other mod carriers, but yes, because theoretically any aircraft carrier model can replace the stock one.

Even so, it'd be nice to be able to standardise a bit. If you take on too many add-ons, things (especially ground objects) breed at an exponential rate. I often try to merge two or more into a standard one, especially if there's no difference between one or the other, but you have to watch out for file references within each file, especially aircraft carriers - the path has to be right in each case, or the thing doesn't work. Also when replacing carriers, watch out for different deck heights - this can affect start positions. Planes start blowing up for no reason. Headaches ensue. Always do backups, always test out on a second copy.
I keep a main YS Flight folder, and have a secondary one called Testing into which I put all new mods, maps etc to try them out. If it's good enough, I then, carefully, copy all the bits across, still keeping a third backup elsewhere just in case. My main YS folder is about 379MB.
Hope this info helps.

Heck yes in this case. I think there are too many different ground objects. With hangars, buildings, airfields, etc, (big stuff) variety is good, but one beyond a certain all the small stuff looks like a blob. Doing anything interesting in YS (like missions that anyone could download and use) is virtually impossible. Change one little detail and the thing usually crashes, often without telling you why.

It's the unfortunate consequence of YSF being open source. My current YSF main folder is over 2GB. Most of it is pretty nice stuff, but there's a lot of planes I will probably never fly. That being said, it's given me a lot of practice troubleshooting all the errors I've gotten.

It's not open source lol. It's more of a consequence of 12 years' worth of modders.
