Metallica would be so much better with a new drummer.

Gosh, he's really getting older! I saw them when they came in Rome in 1996... by that time they just began sliding on the glide slope, a new drummer now would just be the deathblow...

Every other metal drummer in the world is better than he is.

You hate Metallica, don't you Halb? Lars is my avatar and the reason that we even have Metallica. Anyone ever hear he needs to breathe oxygen from a tank to avoid passing out during concerts? I'd like to see your "every other drummer in the world" beat that. And no, it isn't because he's old. He plays so hard and fast that he cannot breathe at all. *smug expression*

Sounds more like Emphysema rather than playing hard.

Metallica are pretty shite nowadays anyway. back in the day they were pretty good, but their new stuff is absolutely dire.

The classics are the best.

Edit: Could be. I mean, he does a lot of the symptoms, but still, have you seen his drum solos? (I'm not going to one post here due to heavy use of certain words that are not "age appropriate". )

I have nothing against Metallica. I just think Lars is a pretentious prick and a shit drummer compared to other drummers in the genre. I didn't say "every other drummer,": I said "every other metal drummer."

Metallica are still no Iron Maiden.

Guys. Metallica was the first true metal band. Lars invented heavy metal drumming. The others copy what he did. It's one thing to copy, it's another to invent it.

Metallica certainly wasn't the first true metal band. I believe that honor goes to Black Sabbath.

I take back what I said. It looks more like they took the others groundwork and created a standard sound not to mention promoted it. All though, that list seems Metallica-less. All these bands experimented with the sound and Metallica appears to be the sound most bands chose. :?

I think you're just a Metallica fan boy, dude. I mean, sure some of their old stuff was good, but you have to acknowledge the fact that they're total shit now

Panhead is my name for it, but yeah. I think we should lock this as it a thread of opinion. We all have ours. I like Metallica. End of story. :D
