Shading...

Post by Philster »

Well, I have another question to ask... Anyways, I am having trouble getting the shading on my model correct. I'm pretty sure it is from the fact I followed the wrong procedure. What I did was I went into Gepolyo and hit the "round all vertices" button. The model came out pretty nice, but there were some rough spots I can't seem to fix.

I've had issues like this before. Usually it occurred after I began cutting into a model, especially in blender. If someone can show me how to properly smooth a model or fix the strange shadows, it would be great. They have really become a nuisance to me.

I just had an "oh duh" moment. I ended up cutting he model in Gepolyx. I got rid of all the shading issues. Right now I am learning how to use Gepoly and all the other programs along with it.

I don't know if it works, but try painting in Blender instead of in Geopolyo, it's quicker. ;)

A colorsplit-like modifier is available in Blender. (edgesplit) But instead of splitting meshes by color, it only splits the edges you have selected. Disable the split from certain angle function, instead use mark sharp under edges. This may create extra vertices, but keeps your mesh organised, and when you select round edges, you don't have to unshadow all those edges again. (own opinion here).
