Scenedit Import...then crash

Post by Honey Badger » Mon Dec 12, 2011 2:40 am

The title says all. Every time I try to open a .fld, Scenedit crashes. Does anyone know how to fix this or how to properly open/import a .fld? I'm using the the 2009 version to clear a few things up.

Have the same issue on my version of YWLM with my iMac running windows.

My Dell Inspiron 1525, where it originally was made, is fine with it however... Odd. :?

Well if its anything like mine, I have to open the sceneditor "As Admin." in order for it to work.

Well, I'm an admin so I thought it did that automatically. I'll try it.

EDIT: Tried it. Didn't work. Re-installed as Admin. Ran as admin. Didn't work. Now sitting slightly bummed out.

Same way you import an fld. I believe it is in the same tab as where the ''import fld.'' is.

Got another crash problem. Every time I try to add a ground object following Gunny's instructions (Edit,Insert,Ysflight Ground objects), the popup window pops up then a few seconds later, scnedit crashes. I believe the following is the reason why, I'm just not sure how to fix it. The code is the console window output.

There appear to be several instances towards the end of that code where a dnm file is referenced. Perhaps you should check the ground_insertname.lst for that particular error and delete the line and try again?

Perhaps there is an error in the ground object file itself and re-downloading the ground pack would get rid of the bad files.

Okay, well that didn't work. Same errors. I'll try deleting lines, but first, does that affect any maps with that ground object? I believe the ground*.lst file tells YS where the ground objects are.

It would change the maps because they wouldn't "See" the files. YOu might want to re-download the bad ground packs to make sure that you can undo anything if deleting the lines doesn't work...or just save a copy of the lst elsewhere so that you can replace the one you edited if the deleting doesn't fix it.

All right, that appears to be working. Haven't seen how it affects YS yet. I still get this one though. I'm not sure how to go about fixing it.

I got no idea, sorry. You need the Dnm for the ILS stuff, and probably the carrier because of it's landing and refueling capabilities, but cannot have them to load ground objects.

Looks like a case of Catch-22.

Well I facepalmed. I just removed groOHP.lst before working with scenedit. Upon start up, no errors. So far so good. However, upon opening the ground object menu, it crashed again. Now I'm really stumped. The console reveals no errors but scenedit says other wise. I'll dig through Soji's "help.html" and see if it's mentioned anywhere.

Badger,I refuse to call you Honey ;) Since your crash occurs when you go to ground objects I am thinking that is where your problem is.The editor can not find some thing it is looking for in the ground files hence the crash.I suggest you go through all ground related files and .lst and look for errors there and double check that every thing is filed properly.

Big work load, here I come. *shudders*. First, all you're suggesting is that I run through my gro*.lst files and simply check the paths to make sure everything is "shipshape". Will report back when I check a few.
